Reid Ribble, a Republican congressman from Wisconsin, warned Americans of a looming government shutdown and informed them of the bill he was trying to pass to fix it in “Another government shutdown is looming; Congress can do better” (Ribble, 2016). Congress needed to pass a funding measure by September 30 or else face government shutdown. Reid stated that government shutdown “harms American business and our image abroad” (Ribble, 2016). Since Republicans took over Congress in 2010, they have been trying to get the fiscal house in order, but have only been able to get two of the 72 appropriation bills that should have been passed in the last 12 years signed into law. As Super Tuesday fast approaches, record numbers of early voters in several states have many candidates and their campaigns excited about their chances of winning. Republicans have held their last debate and are busy on the campaign trail to try and garner any support that might still be unpledged. The Democrats have just finished their primary in South Carolina and are pouring over the data to see what it might suggest for the major contests that loom overhead. All the while, millions of dollars have been spent on television ads in states such as Texas, Virginia, and Georgia to try and sway voters before the polls and caucus sites open for voters on Super Tuesday. These are just a few of the countless tasks that have to be done in order to come out with a victory on Super Tuesday. The only question that remains is, who will win? To find out, let’s begin with the Democrats.
Filibusters can surely be effective for Senate minority leaders. However, it can have both its pros and cons. Some of the advantages include that the filibuster was created to protect the privileges of the Senators in order to fully debate and modify laws in the United States Senate, therefore securing the concern of all the citizens in America. Filibusters tend to exist thanks to the Founding Fathers ideology of designing a democratic government in which politicians became involved and educated throughout many political processes. The border wall debate has become one of the most significant talking points in the United States and countries around the world. Many people believe that the wall is unnecessary and many think that it is necessary. Building a border wall may cost billions of dollars, but it might be able to save the country money as well. Some positive impacts of a border wall are for example a decline in apprehension rates, creating a safer America and putting a damper on the flow of illegal drugs. As well as the positive impacts, we will look at the negative implications as well. Some of these are that the symbolism, cost, effect of diversity, environmental impact and the higher death impact.
The country needs to start monitoring how the government is spending the federal budget and they need to start splitting it fairly to benefit our country. 83% of the federal budget is spent on the Big Five which are the main expenses in the budget. We have to stop spending it all on the Big Five. Our government should really pay attention to what we need most of in this country and focus on the needs. The government needs to take away 20% of the Big Five and split it to categories that need it.
The topic that I am choosing to do is on Obama Care. I chose this topic because the idea of the government forcing people to obtain insurance is wrong in my eyes. I am interested in analyzing the validity for what has been said about this topic in order to increase my understanding about Obama Care. I am not an expert when it comes to Obama Care. I know that this is an insurance that is being provided through the government for the general public. I have read that President Obama never initially read the whole bill itself. I also know that people who cannot afford it, but make too much money to qualify for Medicaid are being heavily encouraged to get this insurance. Some of the common knowledge that I have found that the general public has about this subject is that some people are for Obama Care and think that it is a wonderful idea and that there are some people that are dead set against Obama Care. Younger adults, specifically college age and individuals that are in their twenties tend to be for Obama Care. The insurance is being forced upon individuals that may or may not want it. It also seems as though that the insurance being offered is pretty generic in terms of coverage. Some of the questions that I have that I believe will aide me in writing this paper would be the following: What are the pros and cons of Obama Care? What are the thoughts of Obama Care with the people of the government? As well as what are the basics of Obama Care?
It is indeed sad that some people have to pay the price of criminals. However, when we see it from another perspective we might understand the reasons that may support it. The tragically events of 9/11 have change many things, in particular the safety of our people and policies of national security, as for instance the Anti-terrorism Act. This process was extraordinarily tiring, as many defenders of the bills passing were present. Would any self-respecting American shopper pass the opportunity to accumulate great items at extremely reduced prices? Of course not! The idea that there are people all around the country who are bold enough to criticize savvy shoppers just for trying to take advantage of great sales is awful. Huge sale events such as Black Friday receive relentless criticism year to year, but for no true reason.
