“DOWN…. SET…. HUT HUT!” The pigskin hit my arid hands as I dropped back and looked for a receiver. I scan the field like a eagle searching for its prey. I hear my coach screaming from the top of his lungs “RUN THE BALL SEB!” I scan the field one more time, then I tuck the ball and take off like it was a friday at school. I hit the sidelines and kids on the other team were closing in, as I pounded down the sidelines I look to the side and I see a short kid on the other team about 10 feet from my position. He hits me hard… Then I wake up, in my classroom, everyone staring at me. My teacher was towering over me. My teacher Mrs. Jones breaks the silence and I felt a lecture on my hands. Now Mr. Williams, how many sheep did you see? I look up …show more content…
Jones was starting to get irritated as I talked. “I only saw football players, but they were small, like sheep if that counts...” She sent me to the principal's office. Principal Smith looks like he could be a giant, except the fact that he is like skin and bone, no muscle what’s so ever, but he is pale and like I said he is really tall with really dark red hair. But is always wearing nice clothes and rollies to match his big bushy mustache. But after a short lecture of “why did you fall asleep in class huh?” I was sent to detention. As I was in detention I pondered about football, and if I was going to miss practice. “RING” I startled as I jumped out of my seat and darted out the door. I screeched to a halt in the locker room and I saw everyone grabbing their game jersey? I very suspiciously walked over to my coach, “Coach Thompson,” he nodded as he glanced over to me “why are we getting our game jerseys?” he sighed and looked stared me down, “Haven't you been listening?” I look around very confused. He sighed once more and I could tell I wasn’t the first person to ask this question. He looked away for a minute and looked back at me “Get your pads Sebastien we are going to the

A few hours passed and it was approaching 12:00: game time. As I was getting my equipment on, all the possible things that could go wrong flashed threw my head. As I finish putting on my pads and other equipment, I heard a voice from behind me, "Just stay focused man, and play like you have been.” It was RJ, trying to help me focus and give me motivation. Walking into that dark tunnel with the light at the end is like an exhilarating wave of nerves and excitement. Approaching the end of the tunnel, all I could hear was the crowd screaming and yelling. From there on, as we ran onto the field, another person took over, and I didn't know the outcome of what was about to happen.
“Coach, I bet my whole life in it that I did not even have the idea of stealing your lacrosse ball.” Lyle does not even understand how could Coach ask him that question.
Riley, our starting quarterback, placed his hands on the helmet of the right tackle, as he did every play. He called the play looking straight into my eyes signaling the pass was coming to me. My entire body tingled with excitement as I ran to the left of the field. I could feel my cleats dig into the soft, freshly cut field as I took my stance. I looked up into the sky seeing only white lights which created the stage for the football field. As I brought my head down slowly to see the white eyes of the defender across from me, my heart beat slowed and I was still, in peace for the short moment. The quarterback hiked the ball and I began in pursuit; shifting, juking to get away from my defender. We were side-by-side running down the field as the ball was thrown into the air, coming strait to me. I jumped up and became airborne, snagging it from the lit up, night sky. Falling back with the ball secured into my arms, I felt my defenders full weight push into my left leg. A snap rang out as we hit the ground together and I looked down to see a large bump sticking straight left out of my
As the ball snapped into my hands, the crowd exploded with all the players as if they were connected by some unnatural force. I flew back into my pass drop and looked to my receivers. The opponent covering the receiver to my left prevented any hope of him getting open. Then, as I looked to my right, I saw that my other receiver broke free of the defensive man and was heading down the field. I directed the ball towards the end zone knowing that the pass must be perfect for a completion. As the ball sailed off my fingertips a 270 pound lineman pummeled me to the ground.
Boarding the bus to school it was another hot, sticky humid, August day. Without being able to sleep at all the night before from being very anxious and excited I was all but energized. Throughout the day class had drug on, nearly falling asleep first period, my teacher yells, ‘Logan are you with us today?’. Picking my head up off the desk I replied and quickly got back onto the task at hand. I had never really been able to follow along in math too well. However today was a different kind of day, today was my very first middle school football game. Throughout the halls you would have saw all the football players wearing their white jerseys and jeans. Our coach being a strict, military style coach, admired the fact that all players must match on game day on
I got on to the bus as fast as I could. I can’t believe we were going to play our rivals for the championship. We were on our way to go to Lake City to play the Titans. It seemed that we were missing somebody but we weren’t. Coach took a head count of the team and we all were on the bus accept for Alex, he broke his foot earlier in the season. Alex and his mom were following us in her van. When Alex got hurt we were lucky to make it to the championship. Alex was our star running back. Him and I were unstoppable when we were about to score. Alex and I are the best of friends. We have been friends since fourth grade. I told him to try football and he did, but he liked soccer. We made a deal I went out for soccer for a year, but he had to go out for football. Ever since he has went out for football. Alex and I have gone out for football for four years and they have been the best four years ever. The bus ride took forever, it seemed like it. The bus so noisy everybody had to yell to be heard. The coach couldn’t even hear the bus driver, and he was right next to the bus driver. We were finally there in Lake City. When we got into the locker room coach said, “Win or lose I want you to play your heart out and no matter what we will leave with our heads held high”. We meet in the hall and somebody on the other team says something nasty, they said, “You guys are going down today”. I wished everybody “good luck today” and “make the better team
I remember that moment perfectly! It was the Lady Warriors from Bishop Noll Institute against the 59ers, from Andrean High School. We went through the whole first half with no goals and no injuries. Then, it was eleven minutes into the second half when I was chasing a ball ready to kick it, while an Andrean girl was doing the same thing. Neither one of us hit the ball, but I was the one who ended up getting hurt. She had so much power that she took my whole ankle and twisted in a ninety degrees angle. I literally heard it crack about six to eight times. And like every other athletic, I tried to get back up and continue to play, but I fell right back down. I was in so much pain, and I cried for my coach, but the refs didn’t even bother to stop the game, they probably thought that I was faking an injury. So the play continued to go on and the worst part was that it was in their favor. Finally I got my coach's attention and he told the refs that his player was down, to stop the game! I then had to be carried off the field sit out for the rest of the game. Andrean’s athletic director took a look and made me ice and she said it looked pretty bad, but inside all that was running through my mind was that I was going to be back playing with my teammates
“Hike” it was 5th grade recess and we were playing football. It was a beautiful August day, sunny and eighty five with a cool breeze. We were playing in the parking lot of the Oyster River Middle School. There were about twenty kids playing. Nobody had a certain route, we would just try to shake free and lose the defender as they looked for a pass from the quarterback. I was playing receiver. We all lined up at the line of scrimmage with the quarterback in the middle. I ran my post route that was already in my head. I was off and out into my route, sprinting straight and then a quick turn toward the school. Then, before I knew it, I was on the ground and so was someone else three feet away. I had ran into them. When I fell, I had
At the beginning of the game they punted the ball to my team. As I made my way down the field to block I turned around and was blindsided. I was swept off my feet and saw blood flying in the air, from my nose. I felt like life was going in slow motion as I was in the air. I heard the opposing coach tell his player that is what he wanted. I felt broken cause I knew the whole game they were out for my head. We had been losing for most of the game, but we had began to make our way back. We were playing good defense and my cousin was their quarterback, and we both had a lot of family at the game cheering us on. He had a breakaway run and was on his way to score, but me being so competitive I ran him down and tackled him. I had hit him out of bounds at the ten yard line. His team was furious that I had stopped him from scoring. On the next play two of their players had hit me high and low. As I want down there was a crowd of their players around me. As I began to get up their biggest player stepped on my knee and pushed down as hard as he could. I had a sharp pain go through my leg, and as I tried to get up I could not put any weight on my leg. I hobbled around and played the next play and called a timeout. I tried to walk off the field and I took a few steps and fell to the ground. My best friends dad, Tony, came over and helped me off the field. My mom knew something was wrong and the next day I
I repeat the ritual, swing as hard as I can at the ball, praying for a similar outcome as in the point before.
The play was "Red 334"which is a run to our halfback, me, out of our dive series. I crouched over the ball as I jetted past the quarterback and ran the play so we could observe the changes we needed to make. I let out a sigh of relief because we were finished with the most dreaded part of practice; well, only until someone complained about not knowing their job on one of our pass plays. Coach Nelson undoubtedly decided we needed to run through the final pass play before we perfected our defense. The play was quietly called in the huddle with intentions of getting it right. I ran the play through my mind while I tried to remember what the snap count was and what I was supposed to do for that play. The ball was snapped and I jolted to the left of our team's quarterback to set up his backside protection. Out of my peripheral vision, I noticed the defensive end raging toward the quarterback. I intensely stepped into him while lowering my body and exploded through his shoulder pads sending him stumbling into the line's pass protection.
“Dad, the players are so much better,” I complained to him, “even if I make the team somehow, I’m not joining
“Don't worry about this game,” says one of my younger teammates. “We’re only here to have fun.”
