The Perks Of Being A Wallflower: Pychoanalytical Literary Criticism Assignment In the novel “The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky charlie witnesses a rape as a child and didn't intervene because when Aunt Helen molested charlie he became unaware of the rights and wrong of intimacy which shows he was confused about identifying a sexual violation. The cause of Charlie getting molested by his Aunt Helen demonstrates that Charlie will have a difficult time understanding intimacy.The psychological repercussions from being molested by a family member which people tend to believe that it's the most traumatic types.This acknowledges separation anxiety or PTSD which stands for (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Additionally, this can also cause subsequent behaviors and is a very difficult medical condition to fix. For instance, Charlie expresses this particular behavior when he is witnessing Dave rape the girl. Instead of taking action to prevent her from getting sexually assaulted, Charlie stood there watching.This is considered an odd behavior. Common sense seems to say that a bystander usually when it comes to a situation like this you either consider evacuating the room and getting somewhere where you are guarded or getting involved in the situation and trying to avoid the victim getting harmed.
