Describe the following characters from the story: Ted, Audrey, the Onceler, The Lorax, Mr. O’Hare. Ted plays a major part in this movie. In an attempt to woo his crush, Audrey, he goes on an adventure in order to find the real trees and in the process, not only impresses Audrey, but also obtains a desire to preserve and protect the trees from going extinct. Although he could have given up on trying to get to the Onceler as Mr. O’Hare threatened him, we was very determined to reach his goal right to the end of the movie. Audrey is portrayed as Ted’s crush. She is the one who motivates him to find the existence of the Truffula trees in the first place. At first, as he did not have much confidence that the Thneeds would sell as well as it did in the future, he made a promise with the Lorax that he would never cut down another tree again. However, that promise was broken when the Onceler’s greed got the better of him as he became very prosperous with the Thneed sales. Once the last grown Truffula tree was cut down, only then was his conscious brought back, resulting in him grieving in guilt. The Lorax is the guardian of the trees. Seuss’s opinion on the future of the environment as he seems to believe that if we choose to make more environmentally safe decisions, we can become a more sustainable planet and be able to preserve it for the future generations. I think Dr. Seuss’s quote was meant to be directed towards not just the people who run businesses that cause negative impacts on the environment, but all of us in general. Each time people decide to drive their cars, support a certain business that holds particular values, or even drop a small candy wrapper on the ground, it changes how the state of the environment, whether it be good or bad. It does not matter on how young or old you are, you can have the ability to make a difference to bring positive influences on the environment, just as 14 year old Ted has did in this movie. Using the small candy wrapper for an example, if just one person were to drop it on the ground, it wouldn’t make much of a difference, but the thing is, there are quite a number of people who had done this, because of laziness or by accident. If we become more aware of how we are affecting the environment, and we become determined, everyone can make a difference
