It is 81° and sunny in Brooklyn as the summer begins to wind down in late August. Yet, two young visionaries have snowboarding on the mind. Meet Aaron Aders and Daniel Seagirt of LEIF Technologies – a dynamic duo setting out to do the unthinkable by making it possible for adventure seekers everywhere to snowboard without the slopes…

Or snow for that matter.

That's because Aders, an entrepreneur/snowboarding enthusiast, and Seagirt, a Mechanical Engineer graduate from Columbia University, are currently working together to create the “LEIF”, - the first motor board that mimics a snowboard. This nifty device would virtually allow any rider to visualize him or herself on out on the mountains, despite living in the least “snowy” locations around the world.

It is essentially a battery-powered-board with two motors, 18 battery cells, and two foot-holds – three features that will allow you to ride up to speeds as fast 20 mph with an 8-mile range. The board's hand-held remote is also used to start the board and will let you control exactly how much power is being sent to the board at any given time. Cruise and break just as you would in snowboarding, with speed checks and full stops.
