How would a person react if he wakes up one day and realizes every aspect of his life is a lie? In Michael Bay’s film, The Island, Lincoln Six Echo awaits to win The Lottery and go to The Island. In the beginning, he believes The Island is the only place left to live a normal life because the rest of the world is contaminated. As Lincoln Six Echo and his friend, Jordan Two Delta, live in a sterile facility waiting to win, Lincoln Six Echo considers the idea that The Contamination may not be real. Putting her trust in Lincoln Six Echo, Jordan Two Delta grabs Lincoln Six Echo’s hand as they attempt to escape the not-so-truthful facility. Before Lincoln Six Echo and Jordan Two Delta enter the real world, none of the customers know their insurance policy is actually a clone of themselves. Dr. Merrick keeps the clones a secret by hiding them underground in an old military bunk. Dr. Merrick and the industry do not want customers finding out about the clones because the customers may freak out. Some customers may think of their clones as actual human beings, which could lead the customers to thinking that Dr. Merrick’s business is morally wrong. Dr. Merrick and the industry also keep the clones a secret because they do not want to get in trouble with the government and the law. When Lincoln Six Echo and Jordan Two Delta escape, Dr. Merrick goes to extreme ends to ensure nobody finds out about the clones.
