It is because of mankind's continuous search for knowledge and making the world an easier place to live in, that humans have been able to invent and discover new things. Out of this continuous search for knowledge, the Internet was invented by a group of people, which is a key tool in today's society for information and entertainment. The Internet helps humans tremendously by becoming a very common and powerful tool that helps bring the world closer. The Internet provides some of the most effective means of communication. The Internet is starting to be used in mass amounts by children and teenagers. Which makes the both positive and negative effects of the Internet on children and teenagers very important because their brains have not developed enough. Although the Internet provides many negative effects as well as positive effects, from the unlimited resources of information, the faster communication, to the friendship and love connections; the benefits of the Internet outweigh the negative effects of the Internet, and ultimately makes children smarter and more socialized.

I also find this to be true in my personal life because I enjoy helping my family and my husband in making their lives easier, even if it’s just small acts of service, like making dinner after a long day of work. One weakness that I have always struggled with and that the test revealed to me is the fact that I am unlikely to express my needs or feelings to others, which in turn, causes pent up anger or frustrations. This can limit my success in life because I am more likely to forget about my personal feelings and need to be happy. Although, it is unfair to blame technology because of the content people put on it. Greenfield, Patricia, and Zheng Yan put it best when they say, “Just as we cannot ask whether a knife is inherently good or bad, we cannot ask whether the Internet is good or bad; we can simply document how it is used.” So, as much as some may blame the Internet for its problems, the real war is against the substance within the Internet (Greenfield, Patricia, and Zheng Yan 390-93). And thus comes the main argument against the Internet, is the composition of the Internet harmful to children?
The Internet has created a generation of the most efficient multi-taskers ever born. Many people will have at least four tabs open as a time (Google, Facebook, Youtube, Pandora, Wikipedia, Gmail, etc.). People are constantly jumping from one web page to the next, clicking on links and opening new tabs and browsers. The method through which knowledge is gained has transitioned from deep reading to fast skimming. Every time a web page is opened the viewer is bombarded with information, almost every page has advertisements or links to additional information lining its sides. The Internet has made mountains of information available to almost anyone. It is fast and easy to find information and facts. Essentially the Internet has become the fast food of knowledge. It is convenient but it skips the element of effort.

The Internet started out as an experimental military network in the 1960s. Doug Engelbart prototypes an "Online System" (NLS) which does hypertext browsing, editing, email, and so on. The Internet is a worldwide broadcasting resource used for distributing information and a source for interaction between people on their computers. In 1973, the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) initiated a research program to investigate techniques and technologies for interlinking packet networks of various kinds.
Human’s life has changed. Most of the people have come to cities instead of towns. Kids spend most of their time inside houses either watching TV or playing computer and maybe do their homework. People use it to exchange files and e-mails, to surf the World Wide Web, to download songs or other types of files, to take part of discussion boards, and to send instant messages. It can be beneficial when it comes to freedom of press, and less disintermediation between people (Palmer, 2006). It can also be of assistance when it comes to doing some kind of research, finding some specific information about any topic, or even getting an undergraduate or a postgraduate degree when it comes to busy people who want to expand their horizons. However, internet has many risks in contrast to its benefits and it should not be used by children without adult supervision and parental control.
The internet is full of many things that could make us smarter. However, the internet is full of websites, games, even photos that could very likely have a negative effect on children and their behaviors. Also their education, speech could become affected and they could start doing badly in school or start cursing at a young age. Another thing is that their attitude towards life changes, instead of seeing it as their own giant happy playground they can view it as a very bitter and cold place and start looking, feeling, and talking negatively.
