Have you ever wondered what influences us to behave the way we do? Look a certain way? Or even looked for an explanation to what causes us to apply a certain perspective regarding personal and controversial issues? One of the answers to these questions may revolve around the influence we absorb from celebrities. A definitive term for celebrity is an iconic figure to a category or group who has achieved success in one or multiple aspects of their lives. As a result, these individuals have drawn in publicity and fame. Over the years with the advances in media and other forms of communication, celebrities have become topics of discussion worldwide, rather if it’s at school, with colleagues or at the dinner table, it is fair to say that celebrities live their lives in a manner, which influences everyday people.
The chances of meeting someone who has never been influenced by a celebrity is equivalent to a rabbit befriending a hungry bear, none! This is because celebrities have become popular trendsetters and role models, some more than others. As a celebrity you become a key player in the game known as “The Mainstream”. One of the identifications with this category includes drawing attention to your actions and have those factors exploited for the world to see. From television shows to magazines in your local grocery store, media has subjected celebrity’s, causing their lives to become a fascination for the public eye. It’s hard to be oblivious to the celebrity phenomenon, which has evolved. In some cases, it’s almost impossible to not look twice when a beautiful woman is half naked on a magazine cover. ...a firm believer to the idea that individuals like Chris Brown and Bernie Madoff, who have set poor examples through illegal conduct are still an attraction to the public. At this time, its important to understand these people impact and/or influence the public one way or another, because if they didn’t, these individuals would no longer be recognized.
To sum up a widely open debate, from my perspective I believe the life styles of celebrities is a critical factor which impacts us and can heavily explain what makes us consider how we want to look, behave and abide by beliefs. The mass use of all sorts of media has acted as a strategic method to communicate what people, such as Beyoncé, Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown and others are up to. Regardless, if they are obtaining approval from the public or not, they still do not fail to initiate trends and be widely recognized.
