Two species; one world. Women and men have roamed this earth for thousands of years. Working with one another in making this world a better place. Yet there is a conflict that makes working together hard to accomplish. Inequality between men and women can come in different shapes and sizes. But why? Is it simply because people are just downright sexist? Or is it because humans have become numb to the subject. The struggle for equality has been around longer than most can imagine. From black rights to women rights. Women and men share countless similarities and multiple differences. This is where gender inequality comes into contact. Considering that most people point out the differences amidst one another. This is how we separate female from male. The human eye collects information that traces back to our inner thoughts. With one look, a person can judge and point out differences at the object of choice. This, for some, can be a big problem. Singling out a person 's differences can cause some to feel not equal. In the eyes of some men, women are usually seen as delicate creatures with a high level of emotion. For some women yes this accusation can be true. But not all women are programmed the same way. Men and women both have a tendency to have this picture in their mind of what a real female or male should look and act like. This thought comes into place with toys. Such as barbies. Girl barbies are commonly exhibited as somewhat curvy, surpassingly skinny, perfect hair and unblemished makeup. As for the boys, the standards are completely different. Barbies for boys are typically muscular, slightly tan, and ideal hair. Each of these different toys is usually encompassed with manly or girly accessories of choice. But why can 't a girl 's accessory be a motorcycle? or a skateboard? What about a guy barbies not having his own barbie house? The little details at times can mean more than is led on. Living in harmony? Will this generation see the changes between the two genders? Or will this generation go about life like others have for decades. Today 's society needs to stray away from the numbness of inequality. People 's minds are yearning to burst from the cocoon they have been capsuled in. Escape from the living of the past and move onto what the future awaits. This isn 't the eighteen or nineteen hundreds. This is the twentieth century. Civilization is destined for new things. Which calls for equality between Men and women. Supplement the gap that has arisen in societal fairness towards female and male.     Even in the first civilizations sexsim was very prevalent, women were not included in democracy, they were not allowed to vote, and in some earlier civilizations women were not even allowed to have a job or go outside the home. Even as a 16 year old girl in America, the supposed land of dreams, I see sexism everyday. I see it when I watch the news, I see it when I’m walking down the halls at my school, I even see it when I read novels and articles or watch a movie online. Over 60% of serious journalism roles are given to males, while the women are left with the less important, or less popular sections. In school I see boys calling girls stupid, or girls getting a pass to go to their locker because they forgot something, even though a boy was just denied. I notice sexism the most in literature and movies, I see female characters being “airheads” or acting dumb and helpless, their main role in the piece is to wait for the male character to save them, or to be a comic relief. Not only are women’s jobs and dignity at stake but our sexuality, education and rights are too.
