According to the Association of Public & Land-Grant Universities, higher education improves an individual’s ability to form informed decisions, adapt to technology, create technological advances, sustain livelihoods, be healthier and more responsible, and cope with adversities (“Why Higher Education?,” 2015). In addition, higher education has been widely recognized as the driving component of economic competitiveness in a knowledge-driven global economy; consequently, higher education has become more significant than before in developing and industrialized countries (“Why Higher Education?,” 2015). In the United States, there are various colleges and universities that offer a variety of concentrations for individuals that are interested in obtaining a higher education (“The Benefits of Higher Education,” n.d.). Although there are many interesting majors, I would like to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a concentration in computer science at a university that will enable me to work in the technology field, and ultimately be able to establish my own programming company. …show more content…
