In an organization building culture and a solid foundation is everything. It’s says who you are and create a brand for your organization. When it comes to culture, having the right people in a certain position can all the difference in the world when it comes to growing. It takes a strong group of people to build an organization and strong culture, however ethical behavior also plays a huge role in this as well. With these five principals this will set the tone to be successful and to eliminate any confusion in my professional and personal life. Respecting others is important to me. It’s imperative to treat others with respect because you will expect the same thing in return. Not everyone is the same and you don’t have to be best friends with one, however respecting the person they are is important in building relationships or communicating when needed. Telling the truth is also imperative in your professional and personal life. Telling the truth tells a lot about a person’s character and you will know they don’t have to hide anything to try and cover up something. We live in a world where we are faced with different races and cultures on a daily basis. In order to work together and to respect each other you have to learn how to deal with others and their differences. It’s important to respect others and their background as well. This too will help with building relationships and coming together as one nation. Communication is important and should be open at all times between people. In today’s world we live in a world of communication through texts, phone calls, and social media. Communication is used everywhere and if you keep your communication open with others it makes it easier for people to come and talk to you and be open about certain things. In my professional and personal life I will make sure I’m always available to not only communicate with others but to listen as well. Being loyal to others can be one of the best characteristics a person can have, this shows commitment and loyalty to others where they feel they can trust you. Most decisions are not black and white in cultures—there are always grey areas. Pertaining to cultural realativism, “by defending the payment of bribes or ‘greasing the wheels’ of business and other questionable practices in this fashion” Wells Fargo has gone above and beyond with their cultural sabotage. Some other issues with sustaining a culture in ethically transforming companies include things like employee resistance, which did not seem to happen much in the Wells Fargo credit scandal. Most employees seemed to have done what they were told, out of fear of losing their jobs. Another issue sustaining culture in ethically transforming companies could be corrupt management from the start.
Each organization big or small has its own values, ways of doing things and assumption that it operates in. The principles and ethics that exist in each of these companies are the baseline through which the company operates its affairs. This is what can be called as that organization’s culture. The culture in existence has an impact on the productivity, effectiveness and efficiency (Keyton, 2011). The basis of setting the most appropriate culture of a company is not only to move or increase the profitability but also to make the stakeholders happy and satisfied. A personal code of ethics entails written ideas and beliefs that guide one on how they should behave and relate to their family, colleagues, and the society at large. My personal code of ethics act as a foundation for distinguishing good from bad deeds and assists me to determine the rightful emotions and actions to engage in. My family, friends, and the society play a major part in the development of my personal principles and values, including excellence, integrity, responsibility, ambition, respecting family, accountability, and determination. The values enable me to associate well with my family, colleagues, friends, and the society. This paper describes my personal code of ethics in detail and compares it to the United Nation’s (UN) Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the NASWA Code of Ethics.
When I think of corporation culture I think of vision, beliefs, values having a united front and activities of member within the company that affect society and the environment. A company’s leadership provides the vision and support needed for ethical conduct, in order to be successful. As a living human being we are in a constant state of flux, life events constantly change us. From the smallest thing like a flat tire on the way to work on a raining Monday morning or a compliment a kind person gave you last year that still rings in your ear, all these events change you and shape you. The three assumptions being: identity is something we are born with, identity is shaped by culture and identity is shaped by personal choices. This work is very important to me because it highlights the importance of cultural identity and how this is continually formulated in spite of the dramatic rate at which technology is taking over every aspect of my life. I particularly find it interesting that even with the proliferation of devices and new media, I am not able to completely let go of what I regard as memories that define my cultural identity. These memories come from experiences and development of oneself. Cultural learning, also called cultural transmission, is the way a group of people or animals within a society or culture tend to learn and pass on information. Learning styles are greatly influenced by how a culture socializes with its children and young people.
In the United States, the Anglo community is oppressing people of color because of their language, culture, and believes. For many years the Anglo has mistreated color races because they are different, causing anger and not understanding how it feels to be biracial. Latinos identities are robbed by not being able to speak Spanish in school. Therefore, the community in America needs to come together to fight against oppression and injustice caused by the difference in language and culture to improve equality for a group of people, who have lived marginalized throughout the years.

Cultural construction is one of the key values in the study of Anthropology for several reasons. According to Peoples and Bailey in our Humanity book, Anthropology not only helps us understand the biological, technological, and cultural development of humanity but it’s also intended to teach us the importance of understanding and appreciating cultural diversity. By definition, “Cultural constructions are arbitrary in that they are created and maintained by each culture, cultural constructions are not fixed forever rather they are dynamic and change over time. (McGraw-Hill) In other words it would be impossible to gain an understanding for Anthropology without cultural construction since it’s purpose is to illustrate the birth, change, and differences of ideas and values within individual cultures.
I feel that doing what you say you will, and treating others as you want to be treated are principles that should not only be looked at as great strengths but as internal values that convey credibility. When people trust you and know they can come to you without judgment, it offers them a sense of security and peace.
According to Webster’s Dictionary, culture is defined as tradition or a way of life. It is also a defining principle in how we live our life and the type of people we become. The Salish Indians of the Montana and Celie, the main character of the book The Color Purple, are two examples of cultures that made them who they are. Celie is a poor, black, woman growing up in Memphis, Tennessee in the mid-twentieth century. The men have constantly put her down, through beatings and rape, for being a woman with no talent at all. Her husband’s lover comes to town and gives Celie a chance to see a culture where a woman can stand up for herself and teaches her that love is possible. The Salish on the other hand have a culture that has gone on through the ages and still is a part of each person today despite the obstacles they have had to face. Culture does shape us because from birth it is what tells us our ideals, laws, and morals that we live by each day.
Organizational culture is imperative to the success of the organization. The strength and core values of the organization is supported by the organizational culture. This allows for organization to operate in a specific manner that is specific to that organization and can pave the path for success. Company founders are passionate about their vision and mission and they elude that passion into their employees. The Role of Culture in Shaping us as Individuals Culture has a big impact on how we all fit in as individuals in today’s society, and since this assignment is about that I decided to include some of my own experiences to illustrate my point of view and compare it with those of my classmates and some of the readings. My family and I moved to United States in 1998 from Albania. My parents believed that I and my sister would get a better education here and also it would be useful and interesting to learn another language and its culture.
In conclusion this paper has looked at some of the work ethics important for success in the workplace. The paper explicitly looked at teamwork and communication. These two work ethics along with the other eight work ethics of attendance, appearance, attitude, character, cooperation, organization, productivity, and respect should play an important part in one’s working career.
Commitment, teamwork, integrity, and your behavior are certainly very important factors in workplace ethics; however, they are not the only things that make it up. There are many principles that you should show when in a work environment, but I believe that I have covered many of the most important ones.
