Amusement parks have been created in order to sell the importance of fun. This fun can with be with a family, friend’s or even a school event. Many of America’s popular amusement parks would include Six Flags, SeaWorld, Bush Gardens, and all of the Disney theme parks. In the last decades there has been an increase in the appearance of amusement parks across the world. Global economic challenges have shifted from high unemployment and budget cuts to a rise in tourism in particular areas. Disney has not only created a fun place to be, but positively impacts local economies through jobs. He has a brother named Roy Disney who was a co-founder of Walt Disney Productions (Biography A&E 2015). Walt Disney was one of the greatest animators to create cartoon characters. During Disney’s high school career, he attended McKinley High School in Chicago. There he took drawing and photography classes and was a contributing cartoonist for the school paper. The assessment indicated people were less willing to spend money on expensive plane rides, but rather preferred to drive to a local amusement park. (Milman, Okumus & Dickson, 2010). The demographics for the study included women, men and children of all ages who visited Disney theme parks. Visits climbed 8 percent in the company’s second quarter and bookings were 7 percent higher than in the year 2013 (Theme parks are on the Roll, 2013). Disney also invested in advanced technology systems. Disney tripled investments in 2008-2012 by refreshing Fantasyland, in the Magic Kingdom Park in Orlando. The main concern was to attract locals living surrounding areas to come and participate in the festivities, as well as to accommodate people who could drive to the parks. Disney spent a total of $9.2 billion dollars on refreshing Orlando parks and resorts. Domestic park visitors boosted second quarter earnings causing a rise in admission passes (Carr A. 2015). In a very short time, the park had increased its investment tenfold, and was entertaining tourists from around the world. With the original site having some attendance ups and downs over the years, Disneyland has expanded its rides over time and branched out globally with parks in Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong, with a Shanghai location slated to open in December 2016.
