What is the ideal purpose of higher education? College helps people prepare for their future career choices. Most people, including myself would give a simple generic answer like that one. However, we all know that there is more to it than that. I believe that the purpose of higher education is to better yourself as a whole. Going to college should help your self-esteem and help you become independent.
The structure of higher education should remain the same. Students should start college as a freshman and end as a senior. However, I think all freshman should automatically start off as undecided. There are many people who go into majors without a realistic view of it. Some go into majors and eventually become disappointed and unhappy with it. By going in as undecided, it will at least expose you to other possible careers that you may not even know exist. It will allow you to take classes that venture in a variety of different majors. If you have an idea of what field you want to study, then you should consider going in as intended during the second year. Students who start off as undecided have a better chance of sticking with their career field because it allowed them to make better choices for themselves and find something more rewarding to do.
There are many ways to change the way classes are taught at universities. The first way is by students being able to get a hands-on education. Students should also be given more classes that are thorough. Some students are able to do better in class by learning by doing. For example, a student wants to pursue a career in teaching. It should be mandatory that they do an internship or shadow someone who works in that field. It will help them realize whether or not if that job is truly righ...

In conclusion, I spoke on several topics that I felt could change for the better for a utopian education. The topics were deciding majors, classes, how grades can negatively affect students, and tuition. I’m passionate about how people choose their majors because it can determine their future career. There are many people who are absolutely miserable at their jobs. I would hate for people of my generation to have to go through that in the future. I spoke on tuition because the cost prevents people who may want to better themselves academically. I hope that in the near future these issues can be dealt with fairly and accordingly.
