Holocaust is the murder and persecution of Jews by the Nazi regime. In total, not only 6 million of Jews were killed, but also 5 million other people. Basically, the Final Solution is the Ethnic Cleansing of the Jews and other Europeans that Hitler defined subhuman, and actually the Holocaust, which is widely associated with the murders of millions of Jewish Europeans, is a term meant to define all mass genocides.
The Holocaust started in April, 1933, soon after Hitler got power in Germany, he removed all of non-Aryans from government jobs in Germany. The Jews were the main target of Nazis’ but they were not the only one who were persecuted. Jews had been persecuted, even in many European countries not only in Germany. Nazi’s soldiers attacked Jewish homes, synagogues, and businesses in Germany and Austria. Around 100 of the Jews were killed, and hundreds of them got injured. 30,000 Jews were arrested and hundreds of their synagogues were destroyed. Afterward, the Nazis said the destruction was because of the Jews. Kristallnacht was a step-up for the Nazi law of Jew’s persecution. They tried to make Jewish emigration go faster, but it was difficult. There were 40,000 Jews in France, 80,000 in British and the countries did not want to accept any more. And also, United States accepted 100,000 refugees. So, many Americans wanted government not to allow any emigration of the Jews due to the concerns that letting more Jews coming in during the Great Depression could be dangerous because the Jews might threaten economic recovery. The ship St. Louis is the evidence that shows us official indifference to the persecuted Jews.
