The 1960s was a decade where inventions, movements and people changed history. One historical figure is Andy Warhol. He was different that everyone else, but he was okay with that. He is most known for his art work and creating silk screening process in contemporary art. He created silk screening of famous celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe. Andy is also recognized for his out-of-the-box thinking. He believed that being different was okay as long as you were being yourself. His works have been him an important part of pop art culture.
Andrew Warhola was a born in 1928 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He had two older brothers, and was the youngest of three children. His father’s name was Ondrej Warhola. His parents, Ondrej and Julia, emigrated from Czechoslovakia.
Andrew had a received neurological disease when he was young. He had to stay in bed for many months. While he was in bed while sick, his mom started giving him drawing lessons. Soon drawing became Andrew’s favorite thing to do. He was also a big fan of movies. When he was nine, his mom bought him a camera. He did photograph as well, in the basement of his home that was transformed into a darkroom. Andrew went to Holmes Elementary School. While he was in elementary, he was offered free art classes at Carnegie Institute, so he took them.
When he was 14, Andrew’s dad passed away from a jaundiced liver. Andrew was so saddened that he didn’t go to his dad’s funeral, and hid under his bed for the wake. His father knew and believed in his son’s artistic talent, so in his will he put his life savings to go to his college education. In that year Andrew went to Schenley High School. He graduated in 1945. He had enrolled at Carnegie Institute for Technology so he could study pictoria...

...n the chest. Within thirty minutes, Andy was declared dead. A doctor had cut Andy’s chest open and started compressing Andy’s heart trying to get it pumping again. The doctor had saved Andy’s life, but it had taken Andy a long time to recover from the incident. That didn’t stop Andy from painting.
From the 1970s to the 1880s he continued painting. He even published a magazine called Interview magazine. On February 21, 1987 Andy went to have gall bladder surgery. While trying to recover from the surgery, Andy sadly passed away. When he died he was only 58 years old. Although he passed away, his legacy still thrived. He was and is the Prince of Pop Art. One of his famous quotes was “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes.” He never had children and no one to carry on his name. Rest in peace Andy Warhol, your artistic work will live on forever.
