There are people in the world that believe that there is another reason why this is happening; earth is experiencing a natural cycle of evolution. Global warming is a very serious part of the world and a solution needs to be found immediately. The greenhouse effect is the cause of global warming in the world. The greenhouse effect is a topic of discussion throughout the world; it needs to be contained immediately. “Our effect on the environment, and in particular on climate change, is large and growing” (Tony Blair) The greenhouse effect is when sunlight and solar radiation enters the atmosphere and hits the earth and bounces back, but with the greenhouse effect it then goes back up into the atmosphere and is deflected back down and trapped in the atmosphere (Energy and the Environment).
The gases are emitted mainly by cars, power plants, and other industrial sources that burn gasoline, coal, and other fossil fuels. Obviously, the emissions of these greenhouse gases in excess are leading to the planet’s consistent increase in temperature. For example, in a study conducted by the National Center for Atmospheric Research, it was confirmed that earth’s early century warming was caused by mostly solar and volcanic forcing, and the late century warming, from 1940-2000, was mostly caused by the increase of greenhouse gases. The National Resource Defense Council states, if global warming persists, there will be more air pollution and problems with water supplies as precipitation patterns change, as well as huge threats to ecosystems from the Everglades to the glaciers. Not only will there be hotter, longer heat waves and more intense storm systems, but also forests, farms and cities will face troublesome new pests and more mosquito-borne diseases.
Scientists say that the sea levels have increased due to the melting of the glaciers. (Cunningham & Cunningham, 2009, p. 207) Global Warming has occurred in the distant past as the result of natural influences. Now the warming predicted to occur is a result of increased emissions of greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases include water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone. (Scientists, 2010) Carbon dioxide is a very important factor in the cycle that sustains life on Earth, Plants use carbon dioxide in photosynthesis and release oxygen that’s is necessary to maintain the lives of humans and animals, who exhale carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, completing the cycle (Cunningham & Cunningham, 2009) .
The greenhouse effect which refers to retaining of a part of the sun's radiation in the earth's lower atmosphere leading to increasing in the earth's temperature is the cause of global warming. Also, depletion of the ozone layer is a major source of global warming. However, human actions in burning ... ... middle of paper ... ...he level of CO2 in the atmosphere., deforestation causes increase in environmental temperatures as forests have immense energy absorbing capacity. The controversy regarding the role of nature and human actions in the global warming continues, but its mitigation is the cause of concern. The nature takes its own way to balance the situation by developing geothermal equilibrium that may take a considerable period.
Life on earth depends on climate, and changes in it directly effect the health and well-being of the population, biodiversity, and the delivery of services by ecosystems around the world. (climate change climate modes) The goal of this research paper is to analyze global warming from the perspectives of social science, natural science, and humanities in order to fully comprehend the issue at hand, and develop more knowledge for its significance. Initially, global warming begins with the greenhouse effect, which involves the absorption of solar radiation by the earth's surface. Equally important, reflection of these solar rays in turn, heat up the atmosphere. The gases responsible for this effect include carbon di... ... middle of paper ... ...ronment & Behavior, 45(1), 60-85. doi:10.1177/0013916511421196 Editorial Board.
The environment and human society have many elements that are sensitive to climate change. Agriculture, ecosystems, hot and cold requirements, coastal regions, as well as human well being are examples of elements that are sensitive to climate change. Future generations need to know that we as human beings did what we could, when we could, to prevent climate change. Even though global warming is happening slowly, we need to make changes in our lifestyles now because we are killing our earth and poisoning ourselves with emissions. Global warming is the rise in average temperatures around the earth, to the point that it causes changes in the global climate.
Specifically, how will it affect the human population? Are humans causing it? These are but a few of the questions we need to answer when we study global warming. Global warming is the escalation in the average temperature of Earth's near-surface air and oceans that has been occurring since the middle of the twentieth century and its anticipated perpetuation. Global warming is caused when carbon dioxide and other temperature trapping emissions are discharged into atmosphere, and they perform a similar function to a blanket, letting in light but retaining heat in our atmosphere that would otherwise dissipate, resulting in an increase in temperature.
Abstract There needs to be a reduction if not extinction with the increasing amounts of carbon dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), per-fluorocarbons (PFCs) and nitrous oxide into the atmosphere because it is directly affecting global warming. The combustion of fossil fuels and greenhouse emissions mainly contribute to the increase of these gases. The longer we go without solving this global problem the more conflicts we will have in the future. Although global warming does make the earth warmer there is more to worry about than heating to death. Major concerns revolve around effects on agriculture, water resources, ocean level and coastal regions, and disease.
