For my second film review I watched “The Dark Knight Rises”. “The Dark Knight Rises” was directed by Christopher Nolan. Christopher Nolan also wrote the film along with his brother Jonathan Nolan. This movie cost around $250,000,000 to produce which most likely came from all of the big names in its cast such as Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway, Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, and many more. “The Dark Knight Rises” was nominated for the BAFTA Best Special Visual Effects Award and it won the Saturn Best Supporting Actress and the AFI Movie of the Year. Throughout the film people constantly wonder why Bruce Wayne/Batman isolates himself and does not want to be recognized for all of the good things that he has done. Towards the end of the film in a conversation between Gordon and Batman, Gordon asks Batman why he doesn’t want to be recognized for what he did. To this question Batman responds, “A hero can be anyone, even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat on a young boy's shoulders to let him know that the world hadn't ended.” Through this answer Bruce Wayne shows his humility and how he does not put himself above anyone else who had shown kindness in some way despite saving an entire city multiple times. In another conversation near the end of the movie in a conversation between John Blake and Batman, John Blake asks why Batman wears his mask when he has no family to protect. Batman tells him, “There are always people you care about. You just don't realize how much until they're gone. The idea was to be a symbol. Batman could be anybody, that was the point.” The whole reason for the creation of the Batman was because of Bruce Wayne’s humbleness. He may not have a family to protect, but he does have the city of Gotham and he wants to protect it, but not for fame. Bruce Wayne’s humbleness conveys the main theme in “The Dark Knight
