The Bridge of San Luis Rey is a beautiful novel written by the American writer Thornton Wilder. "Thornton Wilder (1897- 1975 ) started to write novels during the 1920s and published his first novel ( The Cabala ) in 1926. The second novel was (The Bridge of San Luis Rey ) that was published in 1928". In The Bridge of San Luis Rey, Thornton Wilder used many descriptive words to produce people or places in order to make the reader live the whole atmosphere. The novel started on 20 of July in a beautiful city called Peru when the old bridge broke and ended five person's lives. For some people, that happened accidently but for a monk called Juniper that was not. He questioned himself why did this happen for those specific five?. He said:" Either we live by accident and die by accident, or we live by plan and die by plan". Such a question made him search to collect information about those five for six years. One of the most dominant theme in the novel is love. Throughout the stories of those five, the author indicates the idea that love remains forever. Love is one of the causes that led to five person's death on the bridge. The bridge collapsed, they passed away ,but their love was there and will always be there. Metaphorically speaking, love is a bridge between people that won’t be broken.
