When I was reading the book The Breakthrough Principle of 16x by Richard Koch there was some parts that has the most influence on me. One of the parts of the parts of the book that has an influence me was when Koch was talking about the math behind the 80/20 principle. He was using the example of the customers, I could use that same example of the principle and use it toward fishing. If I cast ten times I would most likely catch two fish for every ten casts. Another part of the book that influences me is the focus part he tells of how a British politician by the name of Winston Churchill focused on his goal and completed it. Its influences me to find a goal and focus on it till I succeed, this can be something small as catching a bass
I believe the most important concept that I gained from reading the book was to remain faithful, in good times and in bad. Walking blindly can be very terrifying, but God always has a plan for each and every one of us. My favorite line in the book is: “If you didn’t want to be known as the woman who rowed the boat, you shouldn’t have rowed that boat" (319). This statement is so true. In Richard Rodriguez’s The Achievement of Desire we are presented with a young Richard Rodriguez and follow him from the start of his education until he is an adult finally having reached his goals. Initially I would have never read a book like this unless it was not part of the summer work. However this book has sparked an interest in me to find and read more books such as the Tipping Point. Reading this book was very rewarding if was opened up to a new horizon of thinking and how the world operates. When the author talked on the Law of the Few it made me thinks which category I stood in was I connector, maven, or a salesperson or maybe a mixture.
