"It felt like a movie" was a sickening yet very accurate description of the day of September 11, 2001 attacks. September 11th will be a day everyone will remember. On this day a huge terrorist attack by Islamic terrorists occurred in New York City. The attacks of 9/11 changed and affected America in many ways. “The decade after 9/11 attacks reshaped many facets of life in America. Some changes were temporary- an immediate response out of concern for our safety-while some proved to be more lasting transformations in America life”. At 8:45 AM 19 al-Qaeda terrorists high jacked airlines to be flown into buildings as suicide attacks. American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 were crashed into the North and South towers of the World Trade Center and explodes, causing both buildings to burn. At 9:43 AM American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the pentagon. Another plane, United Airlines Flight 93, was targeted toward crashing into the white house, but instead crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. This crash was caused by the passengers trying to stop the hijacker. The attacks killed 2,996 people. It caused at least $10 billion in property and infrastructure damage. The CIA and Secret Service investigated and came to the conclusion that the high jackers were Al-Qaeda, led by Osama Bin Laden, with the support of the Taliban in Afghanistan. These findings led to NATO to agree that an act of war had been conducted against the United States. This became known as the "War on Terror". In October 2001 the War on Terror began. The Taliban was given an ultimatum to hand over the leaders of Al-Qaeda, or face the consequences. When they didn’t, US forces invaded Afghanistan. What he really wanted to do — and, more to the point, what he thought he could do — was bankrupt the United States of America.” The 9/11 terrorist attack led to many changes in the United States. Some changes were temporary, while others were long lasting affecting the U.S. It affected the economy and the stock market, closing it down for a few days. The burning if the attacks led to health issues in the lungs, and the babies of women who were pregnant at the time. The airport security got more strict, making you go through more procedures. The attacks led to a war between the U.S. and Afghanistan, and Iraq. This war spent America trillions of dollars. Now America is way more cautious when it comes to terrorists. The events of 9/11 changed and affected America in many ways. No matter how little or how big it effected things, 9/11 will always be remembered.
