In the Allegory of the Cave from Plato’s Republic, Socrates claims that in order to teach reality to individuals, without failure, they have to show them the reality. Socrates explains to Glaucon, that as soon as we understand the difference between what is reality and what is fantasy, we try to inform others and teach others what we know, however, those that don’t know the reality, won’t believe us because they have known what they think is true their whole lives.
