The summary of the book is that there is a boy named Santiago he is an Englishman and he wants to go find treasure in Egypt. My thesis for this novel is that the boy Santiago should learn about nature and to follow his heart. First, he wants to go find treasure, so the child goes to Egypt to find the treasure that he wants. He had the same dream a couple of times about the same thing, and the dream was about him finding treasure in Egypt. During his journey he finds three main people, and those type of people help him and point him in the right direction to the treasure. Last, he runs into the Alchemist that finds him in the desert after he figured out the clue with the hawks. He had talked to one person that he had asked to clean his crystal glasses, and we don’t know his name but the boy called him the crystal merchant, but he wouldn’t be able to get to Egypt like that. That is because Egypt is too far away and you would need a lot more money to get there. He worked for the glass merchant for a year before going back to his journey. He falls in love with a woman called Fatima. She puts a big impact in Santiago achieving his personal legend. Her personal legend was Santiago himself. Santiago finds the treasure in a place he’s been before with his sheep but this time he brought a shovel. There are two stones one is black which means yes and its name is Urim, and the second is white which means no and its name is Thummim. One omen is that when you follow your heart someone else will have their own choice to destroy your dream but the universe will help you. When Santiago leaves Fatima because he is following his dream to find treasure. The omens for when the boy cleans the glasses for a shopkeeper the boy asked for food. The two of them went to go eat lunch and this is a good omen because the shopkeeper held his end of the deal and gave the child food to eat so he can survive and finish his journey which helped Santiago trust him so he could work for him in the future.
