Texting while driving is an important issue affecting today’s society. Some of the serious consequences of texting and driving can cost someone else’s life; in addition, killing someone can cause you to have a lot of guilt. It can also cause injuries, higher insurance rates, as well as expensive medical bills given these potential negative outcomes, why do people text and drive? Many young adults or teenagers using smartphones can overestimate their ability to multitask while driving; they may also be addicted to their phones. People also get bored while driving alone or with young kids.

When you are texting while driving, your eyes are off the street and then you are trying to head down to focus on the messages, and most drivers do not check their rear mirror and they only care about text messages. Besides not knowing what is going on around you and only focusing on the texts or the windshield, the risk of a crash is increased. This will cause people get offended and killed. Also, the insurance rate is not always going up because it depends on the state laws and also it shows how your insurance company values charges after the driver accept a moving violation. “The multi-tasking personality, combined with the high of doing dangerous behavior and not able to make a correct judgment is a recipe for disaster” (Raja Debolina). This quotation represents that dangerous behavior is not safe at all and may lead to accidents and injuries also, your car insurance will go up high and you have to pay all the medical bills and insurance fees. This is one of the causes texting while driving and it is part of our major issues affecting today’s society. When you text and drive you should ground in jail. A few years ago, many people consider that it was okay to drive after having a couple of beers. For example, they did not cause accidents, intoxicated drivers usually rewarded a small acceptable. Just repeated offenders lost their licenses. However, in these day’s it all changed when indicators started verifying that drunk drivers are widely more possible to cause a deadly accident than temperate drivers. Today, punishments are extreme. But when you drive while you are drunk, it is easy to lose your license and it repeats criminals can end up in jail because many people think that it is okay to text while driving.
