Survivor’s guilt, also known as Survivor syndrome, is a very dramatic type of mental condition that occurs when a person perceives themselves to have done wrong by surviving a traumatic event when others did not (Survivor guilt). Survivors Guilt can happen to anyone. Some people believe that survivor’s guilt can be cured and some people believe that it will be a life long struggle. I believe that in some cases, people can move on with their lives as they were and others cannot go a normal day without thinking about what happened that day. Survivor’s guilt derives from situations where people have been involved in a life-threatening event and lived to tell about it. (Calhoun) Survivor’s guilt is a deep since of guilt that is often combined with feelings of numbness and a loss of interest of life. Survivors often feel they didn’t do enough to save those who died, or that they are unworthy to be alive. I have seen survivor’s guilt in a popular television show Code Black, The head Residency Director Dr. Leanne Rorish “daddy” has a painful personal history that fuels her to be the best doctor she can be. In those movies, Katniss Everdeen “The Mocking Jay” has a many times when she is experiencing survivor’s guilt. During the hunger games that Katniss volunteers to play the games for her younger sister Primrose Everdeen, Katniss takes a young girl from district 11 under her wing, Rue is the youngest in the 74th Annual Hunger Games (The Huner Games Full Cast and Crew) and she reminds her of her sister. After she loses Rue she has flash backs to her and her death, she uses Rue and all the other people that have been killed in the hunger games as her inspiration to finish the 74th Hunger Games, and to finish the games for good by killing Snow and all of those in the capital that get in her
