The central idea in the novel that I read, “The Kid Table” by Andrea Seigel, is about the main character, a girl named Ingrid, falling in love with her cousin Brianne’s boyfriend named Trevor. The story surrounds several family events where where Ingrid and her cousins wish to be treated as adults and no longer seated at the kids table. As the plot continues, Ingrid and Trevor’s secret love continues to develop and is finally exposed during Brianne and Trevor’s wedding, where the truth is uncovered about Ingrid’s relationship with Trevor.

In “Two Kinds” by Amy Tan, it begins with a brief introduction to one mother’s interpretation of the American Dream. "Two Kinds" by Amy Tan is about the intricacies and complexities in the relationship between a mother and daughter. Throughout the story, the mother imposes upon her daughter, Jing Mei, her hopes and dreams for her. Jing Mei chooses not what her mother wants of her but only what she wants for herself. She states, "For, unlike my mother, I did not believe I could be anything I wanted to be. I could be only me" (Tan 1). Thus this "battle of wills" between mother and daughter sets the conflict of the story.
Throughout the book we are able to see that at a very young age the the little uglies were reinforced that they were ugly that that by the time they turn 16 years old it was expected from them to be operated and turn pretty. I was also able to see that through a very young age they were engrave that when they turn 16 they would be living the desired and comfortable live. Thus, over emphasizing the importance of beauty and how beauty holds happiness and living a comfortable life. I do not believe that 15 years olds should be allowed to have plastic surgeries because that is the time in which a teenager is passing through a developmental phase of self acceptance, and self identity. I think this is a critical time period for a teenager because he/she learns to accept themselves, by trying on different roles. Changing the physical appearance a teenager will complicate this phase of self acceptance, and finding who they really are in this world. Another thing we
