Carole Wilkinson’s Dragonkeeper impressed me with its writing style and incredible settings. She uses very rich vocabularies and analogies which help to imagine the towns, villages, and environment of old China. In addition, there were hidden settings and these become apparent at the end of the story. When I found out the hidden settings, I recognized the characters’ unusual behaviors. Ping who is the protagonist of this book learns a lot of important things with her friends while their thrilling and wonderful journey
This book is about a slave girl and a dragon. One day, the slave’s master ordered her to go steal wine from the palace and the slave went to there with her dragon. While she was stealing wine, the emperor found the slave’s dragon. The emperor hates dragons so he ordered his armies and dragon hunters to capture the slave and the dragon and then the slave and the dragon started running away from them. …show more content…

The main conflict of the story is the battle with Diao. Diao is a dragon hunter and he always looks for Ping and Danzi and tries to kill them. At the beginning of the novel, Ping was very weak woman so they could not fight against him, but as the story progresses, Ping gains magical power and she could protect her friends.
My favorite scenes of this book are fighting scenes and the ending scene. When I was reading the fighting scenes, I was very excited, because the story was very thrilling and I couldn’t expect what will happen next. Also, I like the ending of this story. Danzi told all secrets which he didn’t tell Ping even though she asked him. After I recognized the truth, I understood Danzi’s unusual behaviors.
I really enjoyed Dragonkeeper written by Carole Wilkinson. I recommend this book who loves fantasy and adventure novels. I learned the importance of friends through this book so I consider this book have a beneficent influence on young
