What is reflection? Reflection is a piece of learning and considering. We reflect keeping in mind the end goal is to learn something, or we learn as an aftereffect of reflecting, and the term 'intelligent learning' underlines the plan to gain from present or related knowledge" (Moon 2004) This essay will reflect on the communication involved with a group of children with moderate learning difficulties, and their school nurse. It will also reflect on the care, communication and the underpinning values needed to be a student nurse. I have chosen this specific topic as I wish to reflect on the experience as a whole, to learn and better my understanding and knowledge. Before the lesson started, I was informed that two additional students named Alex and Ben would be joining and both suffered from ADHD. As the children took to their seats, I introduced myself and explained what I would be teaching, I informed them that I was just here to give them some information regarding health promotion and to help them gain additional support in the community and what they would discuss with myself was all in confidentiality and they would not be judged. NMC states that as a student nurse, you must not discriminate in anyway against those in your care (NMC, 2008). When the lesson began, Alex and Ben started throw items off the table at a student who was asking me a question. As I asked them to stop, and listen while I was answering a question their behaviour worsened as they wanted my full and only attention. I raised the volume and changed the tone of my voice to take control of the situation but it made matters worse and both Alex and Ben started to ignore
