The story “Steve Jobs, the Man Who Thought Different,” written by Karen Blumenthal, describes the obstacles, achievements, and important events that changed Steve Jobs’ life into creating his company, Apple. One reason why I wanted to read this book is because I was curious to know about how and where Apple started. Whether it was an iPad, iPod, or MacBook, it seemed to me that almost everyone had some sort of Apple product, and I wanted to discover more about how Steve Jobs created it all. After reading the book, I learned that throughout Jobs’ life, he persevered through many challenges and hardships. I learned that he inspired people to become things that they never thought they could be. He gave them hope that there would be a brighter future, a future with growing innovation. He would take credit of other people’s work, and park in Apple’s handicapped stalls. The third challenge that Jobs faced was with the chief executive, John Sculley III. They got into an argument because they were both disappointed that the Macintosh did not sell as well as they thought it would. Sculley and Jobs began to blame one another about Apple’s downfall. In the book it states that, “He concluded Jobs was meddling too much in other operations, giving too many orders, changing plans, and not delivering the Macintosh changes that were sorely needed.” Sculley took out Jobs from the Macintosh project, explaining that Jobs’ role would be “global visionary.” Finally, Steve Jobs quit working at Apple because he felt like he and Sculley did not work out together, and that Sculley was betraying him.
