Ever scored low on a test? Did it create stress? Ruin your whole day? I, and most people I know, certainly have felt this at one time or another. Standardized test are an unfair way of deciding a student’s level of knowledge. Standardized assessments should not be used to label students on their intelligence or to punish them as schools tend to do. Standardized test are more than just a grade in a class. They go on your “record” without any discussion as to why the score is what it is. We must remember that some students don’t test well therefore it affects their self-esteem. These test create stress for both students and teachers as there are multiple levels of students in each testing area.

All students do before a test is study. From my experiences, I never have enough time to study. Students generally have little time to “ be kids “with the amount of time preparing for a test. You don’t have time to do your normal activities or to handle things you must face in your everyday life. At times, it does become very overwhelming and even frustrating. Labeling students in this way creates stereotypes of sorts, then followed by cliquish attitudes. Likewise, not all students test well so the scores do not reflect how smart or intellectually capable a student is. However, I don’t think standardized assessments should be used to label students on their intelligence because some students don’t test well and it affects their self-esteem. These “labels” creates stress for both students and teachers as there are multiple intelligences in every group.
