Recommended: Benefits of space mission

A majority of people think the space program is a lost cause, a waste of money and a risk that should not be taken. These are all exceptional reasons why we should not fund the space program, however, there are more pros than cons in the fact of the matter. In 1969 Neil Armstrong took the first steps on the moon, this was one of the immense accomplishment of the space program that will be remembered for centuries to come. We want our children to experience these events just as we did When we were kids and the space program can do just that. Space program funding should be increased because of the human's need for exploration, greater technological advances and how it could improve the lives of people on earth. One of the key arguments is that it is a waste of money exploring space. In reality, the space program is mere pennies compared to The nation's debt, which comes out to about 20 trillion. They say we should be using the billions of dollars going to the space program for more important epidemics in the U.S. Although the money used in space exploration could be used in many economical situations, the space program has made a path for the world throughout the years with technological advances and historical moments that …show more content…

If we stopped funding the space program imagine the hundreds of scientific discoveries and technological advances we would lose and in doing so our children wouldn't be able to experience what we felt when man first stepped on the moon. this will cut us off from finding new life or even relocating to a different planet. Imagine in 30 years when the earth is depleted of all its major resources and is nothing more than a barren wasteland what will we do then?
