Sociological perspective involves studying human interactions and studying human life within the society as a whole. It is as important and beneficial in the 21st century as it was over the other centuries before this. Sociological perspective enables people to recognize diversity amongst them and learn how to live in a society where cultures are so varied (Dant, 2013). This is particularly so in a century where technology has caused even more interaction than ever before. The 21st century has enlarged the society as we know it to encompass the entire world. This understanding has enabled me to interact more friendly and accommodate people from many different cultures from all over the world. We live in a world where interaction with people is inevitable in sports, in the movie theatre, and even on the streets. Applying sociological perspective enriches one’s understanding of the behavior of people and thus creating better and more productive interaction. Most important , as a nursing student, understand sociology can help medical profession integrate key sociological theories to their practice. We can know better on patients’ culture, background and religion through our practice.
Sociological perspective would also benefit the people living in the 21st century to understand that there is an interconnection between the personal lives of individuals and societal forces that contribute to the actions that people do.
