The Feminist Scholarship and Social Construction of Women, written by Gayle Greene and Coppélia Kahn, was an enlightening story. One of the main issues I saw in the social construction of women was the separation of public versus private spheres in the history of women. More specifically, the division between women’s work and their personal lives (Greene, Kahn, 16). I find it interesting how this division of spheres has changed the perspective people view women with their families and women in society. With these two separate spheres separating genders women were given a double standard and viewed their work as the manual labor within a house. I found it complex in differentiating how historians determined the different spheres defined in the text and must wonder if there are more “invisible” spheres that are overlooked in today’s society. …show more content…

With this quote explaining our histories working patterns I was sought to believe it tackled the issues in working gaps. However, as I read further I came to understand that women have wielded more power than has been apparent, just not in traditional forms. By using their own wit and oppressions to their advantage, women have been able to influence cultures, powers and social aspects within their society I found it empowering that women didn’t let the actions of men strongly influence whether they were going to make a difference in society or
