For as long as I could remember soccer, my avocation, has been an imperative part of my life. Whether it be the endless running back and forth between practices and games or attending additional training sessions. I’ve participated in many other sports alongside soccer but soccer has always been my main focus. Along my way, there have been many times where I contemplated if I was good enough but there have been numerous people who encouraged me to pursue. When I was a kid, I was used to being the best on the team. Whether it be the fastest, strongest or most skilled. Coaches approached me asking “where are you from? and what do you envision for soccer in the future?”.That begun to change as I grew up and stayed with the same travel program …show more content…
I knew making varsity as a freshmen would be a challenge because of the amount of talent already on the team. As tryouts came to an end I was informed that I was not considered one of the top 16 players to attend the tryout but “having potential” presented me with the opportunity to train with the varsity team and dress for all games that the jv didn’t compete in. The coach told me playing with both teams would take up most of my free time because I had to attend double practices. He specified that my success of the season would be determined by how hard I was willing to work. That season I was nominated captain of the jv team. I went to every extra training, running, and camp session available on my own volition, as well as played on both teams. I didn’t crack under the pressure of intense coaching and stayed open minded to learning new aspects of the game. That year, even though I wasn’t a full time varsity player, I was awarded my varsity letter for my hard work and dedication. I really surprised myself that season; I did everything I could to improve and earn my minutes as well as contribute to the many victories.,I grew as a person and a teammate and gained an understanding of just how hard I would work to get to where I wanted to be. This fall, I made one of the leading soccer teams in the state because of my persistence to achieve my goals. This new team reinspired my love for the game and made me
Youth Soccer has evolved into a fiercely competitive arena. More and more children are leaving recreational leagues to play in highly competitive select leagues. Select leagues are made up of teams, which players must tryout or be selected to play for. I had the unfortunate task of being an evaluator at such a tryout. Fifty ten-year-old boys had come out for a three day tryout in which forty five of them were placed on three teams. Cuts were made on the field and for those boys who had made a team it was a very exciting, but for the five boys who were cut it was absolutely heartbreaking. Had the children been older they might have been able to deal with the disappointment better, but for most of them it was their first real experience with public "failure". Select leagues have the potential to teach and promote important life skills such as hard work,...
This past fall I tried out for the varsity basketball team at my high school. I had played both on the freshman team and then last year on the junior varsity team. Playing on the varsity team is all I’ve wanted to do. I’d practiced all summer and in September and October to get ready for the try-outs at the beginning of November. Unfortunately I did not make the team. It was a huge blow for me because I had worked really hard and had expected to make it. Thankfully my moms and my friends were there to remind me that there were other paths to pursue my dreams. I could have easily been bitter and decided to stop caring, but they wouldn’t let me. I was humbled by this experience and decided to turn it into a positive. I’ve since decided to join the Wilson Live club at school. It’s a group that films and commentates sports events at school. This connects to a possible major that I’m interested in when I go to college--communications or sports
Hope Solo, a very amazing, and competitive goalkeeper, has made young girls and women want to become soccer players. I’ve done many sports since Iwas little , at first I was madly in love with gymnastics I wanted to be exactly like a professional gymnast , but then I started to shift around in sports and that’s when I found soccer. I stopped doing gymnastics and started playing soccer, at first it was very hard and i wasn’t sure what I was doing. But then I started to practice a lot more and I started to get better. After i established that soccer was the sport for me. Competition can make an impact on your life by making new friends, being more active, and becoming more confident in yourself.
I love being a part of something bigger than myself, and my gifts and talents help me do this. As a frequent leader of group projects, I am constantly urging myself and my group to go above and beyond the requirements. These experiences as part of a group, often encountering failure, have taught me that I almost always have a positive outlook on life, and I will persevere and do everything with confidence. Everything bad that happens in life also has a good side; God always has a plan for us. I would love to develop my athletic talent and passion for soccer. I am on the club team FC Revolution in my hometown of Santa Cruz. Constant practices keep me in good physical and mental condition. Soccer has taught me that exercise is equally as important
In the year 2015, 15 years old, I am sitting down on my couch playing FIFA. I love and treasure FIFA. FIFA is a virtual soccer video game with top of the line game play, graphics, and producers. FIFA is almost like a best friend: one second you will be aggravated or irritated because of a dreadful play, but the following moment they pull through for you and support you, just like a best friend. I would rather be playing FIFA or be with my best friend than anything else in the world, no matter what. FIFA is one of a kind, just like a best friend. My best friend and I share the passion for soccer, we both play soccer, we watch soccer and we play FIFA together. We have been best friends ever since first grade; we have grown up together
The world needs to realize the difficulty of soccer, people have been brainwashed into thinking soccer is an effortless sport, but that’s false, not only soccer is an arduous sport to play, but it’s the most difficult and strenuous sport at the senior level, both internally and externally. Soccer is a beautiful sport, probably the most popular in the world, but as a soccer player, I think people should realize the difficulties that every soccer player must face at the senior level which makes soccer the most difficult sport in the world. Soccer is a difficult sport I agree, but there is a key component which generally shifts soccer from being difficult to becoming impossible, which is the process of going pro at a senior level and when players
I remember how my coach pulled me to the side in the hall one day to speak to me. He told me “Star if you keep things up at the rate that you are, you can really accomplish a lot your senior year. You will be no doubt in my mind the top goal scorer in the state if you make a minimum of goals you did your freshmen year.” The excitement was tremendous and my accomplishment in both school and soccer motivated me. My confidence was over the roof and I can still remember the drive I had that year. I wanted nothing more than to graduate high school and head straight to college to play soccer and get my
With two minutes left on the clock, the game ended a bit earlier for me than it did for the rest of my team. It was March 2014, and I had broken my arm and shattered my elbow playing soccer. As the game ended, it was difficult to act excited that my team won in the midst of my agonizing pain and discomfort. When I learned that I required surgery and would be sidelined for six months, I asked myself two questions. Why did this happen to me?
Even if nobody knew who I was yet, I still did not have a comforting feeling in my mind. Even so, I realized that I had to make a notable first impression on my new teammates. For many years, I had wanted to join a sport. Countless times I was told that I was too young to join any sport and that made me scared to join anything. So when I got the opportunity to join soccer, I did not
Each and every one of us have dreams, wishes, and goals that we would like to see come to fruition. Ever since I was a little boy, my life has revolved around soccer. I was fascinated with everything about it and my dream was about becoming a soccer star. It was always there for me to sweat out all my pain and problems and for that reason I will always be grateful to my brother for introducing me to such an amazing sport. However, as I grew older I quickly started realizing that soccer might not necessarily be a dream worth chasing and instead a fantasy that would never occur.
Throughout my life as a soccer player, I have always wanted to be the best teammate that everyone looked up to. My goal is to advance my soccer skills and to be the best player that I can be both physically and mentally. Being shy and awkward can sometimes make it hard to fit in and make new friends. Soccer encourages me to get out into the world and make contact with others. When I am
I have often wondered what it is that makes me who I am. The person the I’m today is way different from couple years ago. I have come to the awareness that change can be the deepest of all things. The emotion that change my life are my Hometown Sana’a, my passion for soccer and my older Brother.
I encourage you to carry your soccer career to college and even farther. Don’t forget about the burning passion that started as a little kid. You've always dreamed of being a professional soccer player or maybe even a coach. Even making the high school soccer team is a great accomplishment because you’ve had a few setbacks. Let no obstacle stop you from what you want. Don't give up on your dreams because you will forever be disappointed in your decision of
The World’s Most BEAUTIFUL Sport Passion plays a huge role in my life. I have always been fascinated in the soccer world. I played as a young boy, since I could remember. I had begged and begged my parents to let me join a soccer team. Until one day, I was in 4th grade and had walked out of my classroom after being picked up by mom and had seen a couple of kids my age practicing.
I was always taught that soccer was to be about the love of the game and that it should be fun. Unfortunately, I faced many obstacles that I needed to overcome before I could truly love the game for what it was worth. I grew and continued to love the game, knowing little at the time of the obstacles I would be faced with, and would need to overcome. My struggles with soccer began early in my life. I was an average player, who had a drive to succeed and go far.
