Slippery Rock University is located in Butler County, Pennsylvania. The school was founded in 1889 and was known as the Slippery Rock Normal school with an enrollment of 168 students. The school started out as a teacher education institution. The school then became a four-year teacher’s college after it was purchased by the Commonwealth in 1926. The main focus of education during that time was health and physical education as well as elementary and secondary education. In 1960, the institution then became known as Slippery Rock State College that offered liberal arts and other professions allowing prospective students to earn their undergrad and graduate degrees. The hall was only for juniors and seniors. The dorms were named after this guy named Ossenburger who also went to Pencey a long time ago. After Ossenburger got out of Pencey, he made a lot of money in the undertaking business. After making a bundle of dough, Ossenburger gave some of it to Pencey and that’s why the new wing of the dorms are named after him. Then the next morning, Ossenburger gave a speech to the students of Pencey Prep about how he was never ashamed when he was in some kind of trouble or something that Ossenburger would get right down on his knees and pray to God.

On October 1st, 2015 a religious incident affected Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon forever. Sadly people were killed in this horrific incident by a twenty six year old man named Chris Harper-Mercer’s. He killed about thirteen innocent people and he, also, left about ten people injured. This incident impacted and changed many students, staff, and parents lives forever.
The strengths and weaknesses of Skagit Valley College differ from which campus you attend. The particular strengths and disadvantages can range from: students able to retake their Compass Test, high school students can attend free, Skagit prepares students for four year colleges; but my campus does not have many classes, its first come/first serve, and it’s a small school that doesn’t have many programs. My campus has criminal justice classes, but not a criminal justice program. The class points you in the right direction but doesn’t help you in real life situations. There could be possible solutions for these weaknesses.
When Farmingdale State College students are asked about Aramark, they simply associate it with the food that is served on campus. Little do they know that Aramark has a whole history and that there are many facets to this company. Florida International University is a public school that is located in Miami, Florida. FIU has a population of 41,038 students, also the majority of the students are Cuban or Cuban decedents. The area on which the university was constructed was an abandoned air field. It is also one of the top 10 largest universities in the United States of America. When attending FIU one should consider the admission criteria, tuition, and academic majors. Also, it is important to have academic support, understand the college’s demographics, and familiarize oneself with campus life.
Marc (pseudonym), the student that is attending the community college grew up near the area of the school. Marc is currently attending American River College and is currently in his second year. Overall he has completed three semesters of general education. This is third semester which also includes him taking courses that entails his major preparation courses. He is participating in Puente and TRIO Journey as well as TRIO STEM which is for first generation students that helps students identify the gap in education that they did not receive in high school or at home. He is currently decided on Electrical Engineering as his major. I have the opportunity to see Marc in two different spaces, one in the HUB, the center of students services on campus. The other is having the ability to see him in the Human Career Development course as part of being part the TRIO Journey program. In this class, I can also further assess his characteristics as an individual and in a collectivistic environment. The key presenting issue with Marc is that he is a community college student that is stuck, regarding his decision towards his transfer, major and location of schools.
In 1966, the Community College of Beaver County, CCBC, was first located in Freedom, Pennsylvania. In 1971, it relocated its headquarters to Monaca, Pennsylvania. There are two additional CCBC sites, the Aviation Sciences Center located at the Chippewa Airport in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania and SouthPointe located at the Southpointe Industrial Park in Canonsburg, PA. Southpointe provides training to workers for emerging regional job opportunities in the casino and oil and gas industries. In addition to the casino and oil and gas industries, students can earn credit for degrees in the areas of criminal justice, liberal arts, and business. There have been many talks on shutting the school down, enrollment is declining, and the government will not give the school any more money. The students are also impacted by the poor choices that SC State has made. The accreditation of the overall school is on the line. If the school happens to lose the prestigious accreditation, all students will lose their eligibility for all federal financial aid. The faculty and staff have to suffer through job cuts and mandatory furloughs. The city of Orangeburg is also impacted. SC State generates the most revenue for the city of Orangeburg. The students and faculty help bring business to the small local companies throughout the city. The thought of closing SC State had sent Orangeburg County into a panic and many businesses feared that they would be on the brink of closing. The biggest impact has been made on the schools’ morale. Some students no longer wants to attend the school, the faculty and staff are now looking elsewhere to teach, and SC State is losing out on contracts with different vendors. Students just are not motivated to participate in anything and you just can tell the morale of the school is

Student Support Services (SSS) is a marvelous program that is federally funded on the campus of Western Kentucky University which provides academic advisement, personal counseling, tutoring, and other services to help students adjust to college life, succeed academically and graduate from the university. I have worked for this program since the beginning of my sophomore year and I am also a current participant. It’s like a family away from home.
