Edwards’s states, “It is doubtless the case that some whom you have seen and known, that never deserved more Hell than you, and that hereto appeared likely to have been now alive as you.” (90) Edwards unfolds the truth that those who want to be alive, but are in Hell, are more fit to be because they are lost souls, and don’t know what path leads to what. Those he is speaking to that are alive and well should be sent down below since they aren’t following the will of God, and do ruthless things that lead to sins, or punishments.
