The first example of a closely connected relationship between the two is that the three Curtis brothers, in the novel are forced into premature adulthood or have to have the mindsets of an adult under the circumstances that both parents had died, yet in the poem, Robert Frost uses ideas that are cyclical such as people die but their family will continue to grow so that is why you have to appreciate all the good and little things in life. The greasers and The Socs the greasers are people who live in the hood but care for each other they always have each other backs, the socs are high class rich people, but are real friends. S.E. However comparing the movie to the book they have some differences to the movie and the book, and the similarities to booth.
In the book The Outsiders, written by S.E. Hinton, is about two separate groups. One group is called the socs, and the other one is called the greasers. They have some difficulties getting along. The poem is called, “Nothing Gold Can Stay”, written by Robert Frost. The poem is about that sometimes we have had a long, busy day and then the next day will be a brand new day. These are some ideas between the book and the book.
Both of these books are centered around three young boys going through many trials and tribulations throughout their young adult life. All six of these boys have lost their parents in tragic accidents; that ended up changing the way these boys grew up and the path that they later chose. The book The Outsiders is surrounding three boys by the names of Ponyboy, Sodapop, and Darry. Darry who is the oldest of the three boys begins to take on responsibility of taking care of his three younger brothers. These boys all end up taking a bad path in life, which resulted in joining a gain and the gain, became their family, somewhat of a filler for what they have lost in their real families home.
The Outsiders and The Wednesday Wars deal with misunderstandings among young people in the 1960’s and show how people can form friendships despite their differences. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is about two rival gangs, the Greasers and Socs. Ponyboy Curtis and some Greasers befriend Cherry Valance, a Soc. She spies on the Socs and helps out the Greasers. Ponyboy and his friend, Johnny Cade, become involved with the killing of a Soc, so they run away to an abandoned church. When the church catches on fire, Ponyboy, Johnny, and their friend Dallas Winston, save a few children who were trapped in the burning building. Johnny gets injured during the process and later dies. You might remember it from the popular quote, "Stay Gold". Today it is mostly read in middle school classrooms. The Outsiders was published by S.E Hinton in 1967 when she was a teenager. The main focus throughout the story is the feud between two gangs: The Socials (Socs) and the Greasers. "We're poorer than the Socs and the middle class. I reckon we're wilder too". The whole book is written in Ponyboy Curtis's point of view. So, we are hearing the story through a Greaser's perspective. It is often difficult to make a connection with a character over the big screen. You miss out on scenes that did not make it into the movie, some that were are not emphasized like they should have been, and some characters were portrayed wrongly.
For as long as people have had disagreements, there have been social classes divided by both ethnicity and wealth. The rigid social structure formed by these disparate groups often hurts the lower rungs of society, who many times end up disparaged by the rest of society. In S.E. Hinton's book, The Outsiders, the main character, Ponyboy Curtis, tries to combat the social separation between the Greasers, presented as poor gang members, and the Socs, depicted as rich and out of trouble. In the book Ponyboy, a Greaser, tries to escape murdering a Soc in self-defence. In Khaled Hosseini's novel, The Kite Runner, Hosseini illustrates the effect of the social and political strife on the country and its people through Amir, a rich Pashtun Sunni boy, and Hassan, a poor Hazara Shi'i. Hassan is sexually assaulted for being a religious minority and a servant. Amir abandons him and tries to forget until he chooses to save Hassan's son from the Taliban. Both Hinton and Hosseini explore the theme of class separations harming people, which extends across the two novels' radically different settings and characters.
West Side Story is a book about two gangs living in a large city. The Outsiders is a book with the same concept, two gangs that are archrivals. Even though two different authors wrote these books during two different time periods, they have the same story line. These books are realistic, because gang rivalry is still going on today. They are different, since they were written separately. Also, both these books have different problems between the main characters. Still, West Side Story and The Outsiders have many similarities.
“The Mountain” is a poem that has many metaphors and life lessons. Frost’s uses of dialogue and analogies makes the poem relatable for readers. Also his use of analogies allows the reader to interpret the poem from numerous perspectives. The Outsiders book is different from the movie because the book shows Ponyboy’s thoughts, the movie doesn’t show much of what happens to Ponyboy after Dally’s death, and doesn’t show movie-watchers much of Johnny’s backstory.

In the instance chapter’s 1-4 Johnny and Ponyboy’s innocence is gold, and is taken at the end. In the next section, the well being and adjustments of way of life of Johnny and Ponyboy is gold, and is taken when what had been their sanctuary, was literally burned.
Robert Frost, an inspiring poet, enjoyed using extended metaphors, which can turn regular words and phrases into a deeper context that can be constantly viewed throughout the course of the poem. He uses this technique in both of the poems, “Mending Wall” and “The Cow in Apple Time,” by using environmental imagery and metaphor, to convey the message that boundaries display issues, even if the impact they have isn't negative.
In Frosts poem two themes are isolation and choices. Isolation because the man is alone and wants to be alone, and the weather gives it alone feels because people don’t go out while it’s snowing alone most of the time. The other them in this poem is choices because the man has to choice wither to go home to the village or watch the snow which his horse disagrees with. But, in the end he choices to go home where it warm and where he can keep all his promise. In Poes poem the two themes are madness and love. Madness because the man in this poem is basically insane, he talks to a bird if the bird is even really there. Also love is a theme because he truly loved his wife and all he wants is to be with her. In both the poems there is a man and the real world theme in Frosts poem it’s snowing which kind of entices the man to stay and watch but he stays he could die from the cold. In Poes poem its night time and windy and there are spirits outside and they come in as the form of the raven.
The author of Mending Wall and Nothing Gold Can Stay uses figurative language like metaphors and personification to demonstrate his overall tone. In Nothing Gold Can Stay, the author stated that “Natures first green is gold” meaning that the budding of a leaf is precious like gold is precious, having great value to people. When Robert Frost stated “Her hardest hue to hold...Her early leaf's a flower,” he was using personification acting as if nature, itself, was an actual person giving birth to a budding flower. He talks about leaves and flowers only lasting for a short time; in fact, only an hour to demonstrate his overall tone that nothing good stays and beauty is not permanent. In After Apple Picking, the darkness of nature is present through the man wanting sleep, which is symbolic of death. It might seem that the poem is about apple picking and hard work but it is actually about the nature of death.
