The Holocaust: In Memory of Millions The holocaust was a terrible time in the history of the world that many people wish to forget. This is because many Jewish citizens were mass murdered through genocide based on their religion. Even through the horrific experiences of the Holocaust, many people try to remember and honor the ones who suffered. Literature such as the play “The Diary of Anne Frank” by Francis Goodrich, the play “Terrible Things” by Eve Bunting, and the movie “The Diary of Anne Frank” by George Stevens. These three sources provide an idea or picture representing what millions of victims had experienced such as the hardships of everyday Jewish life (during Holocaust of course), the helplessness they felt, and what was really destroyed during those gruesome years. …show more content…

One place where this example is shown is the historical-fiction play “The Diary of Anne Frank”, by Francis Goodrich. In The Diary of Anne Frank, Anne had to leave her friends behind to go into hiding. This shows that when she was only a young girl, she had to leave behind her friends, some family, and daily life within days of notice. This is important because doing that at such a young age must’ve took a lot of courage and will-power. In addition, Anne had to stay completely silent for multiple hours a day. She was cut off from all social interaction besides her family. This is significant because or species, being human beings, relies on us being socially active.
