In the legend of Perseus and in Percy Jackson they both have the same plot type. They talk abou many of the same topics. Even in the modern re-telling they are similar. The story line in The legend of perseus and Percy Jackson the stories are the same. Percy Jackson is given winged shoes(Percy Jackson and the lightning thief 2010). In this part of both stories they are the same and different. Perseus is given winged sandals. While percy is given winged converses. Perseus is given a pair of winged sandals. “.. a pair of winged sandals to carry him through the air..” (Danaus, Perseus, and the gorgon 117) Also, both use a mirror to look at or look for Medusa. Both Perseus and Percy use Medusa's head as a weapon . To wrap this up both go on quests throughout the story. This is just a few ways the stories are similar. Throughout both of the stories both characters share the same hero archetype. In the legend of Perseus he is the misfit. He isn't really wanted on his island, he doesn't really belong. “The scheming king decided to get rid of

In the story Legend of Perseus, Perseus uses brain over brawn when he took the gorgon's eye to find Nymphs North.”As one sister was handing the eye to another, Perseus sprang forward and grabbed it” (Danaus, Perseus, and the gorgon 117). He also used Brains over brawn when he used the shields reflection to see Medusa. “Looking into the mirroring shield, Perseus swooped down and with one left stroke he cut off the Medusa’s head” (Danaus,Perseus, and the gorgon 118). These examples in the story show brains over brawn because he thought of ways to defeat medusa without being strong. Percy Jackson shows brain over brawn when he is fighting medusa and he uses his phones reflection to see where medusa is. This is smart because in order to find where she is he cant look at her directly so he thinks outside of the
Odysseus and Ullysseus Everett McGill are similar characters because of their perseverance, cleverness, and their leadership abilities. In The Odyssey, Odysseus portrays an important trait to the story, perseverance. His perseverance really stands out as something that he has and always will have. On his long journey home, he never gives up and just stays where he is, no matter how tempting.
First of all they are the main characters that have company on their journey. For instance, Everett has his two friends from prison, Pete and Delmar, and Odysseus has his shipmates for most of the time. Another similarity is that they are very strong leaders that will overcome any challenges that come in their way. For example, Odysseus has many challenges he faces like, Polyphemus, but he defeats him with a stick on fire. He also has to deal with Poseiden becasue of what he did to his son polyphemus and defeats him with help from the gods/goddess which were Athena, Zeus and Aeolus. Another challenge he faces were the Seirenes, but has the help from Athena so him and his shipmates do not die and overcome this challenge, and more. Everett has many challeges like Odysseus, but they are not exactly the same. For instance, instead of Poseiden coming after him he has the sheriff. The sheriff is being compared to poseiden in an ironic way because he uses fire while Poseiden uses water. He also faces a Polyphemus, but instead of a cyclopes it is a guy with one eye named Big Dan T. He does not defeat him like Odysseus, instead the human cyclopes beats them with a stick and takes all of their money and their car. The movie switches the roles of the cyclopes and the hero so that the movie has its own version of this event and so its not exactly like The Oddyssey. Everett and his crew
One archetype the two stories have in common is the hero. The heroes, Odysseus and Everett, try to reach their family, no matter the risks. Both have the same goal and will do anything to keep their loved ones again. Also, both of the heroes are extremely loyal to their companions. Like whenever Odysseus tried to save his crew, or when Everett went to rescue Pete from jail. However, they can also differ in ways like character. In the face of an obstacle, Odysseus faces the problem head on and uses strategy at the same time, while Everett uses excuses to try to avoid the problem. On the other hand, Everett has his friends throughout his quest, while Odysseus’ companions all die except him. These examples show how the heroes of the Odyssey and O Brother! are different.
Half of the room had their faces painted orange and brown. Half of the room had their faces painted black and yellow. I sat and looked at the other side of the room with total disgust. How could they call themselves Clevelanders as they sat and cheered on the enemy?
The similarities between the two stories are extensive, there are similarities not only in plot and the adventures the characters embark on and are involved in so I will only focus on a few. Homer uses the Latin translation of Odysseus name “Ulysses” in the Odyssey. Both men have been away from home for a long period of time
In the poem Perseus the character is Medusa's victims. That is the only one that is different from the other story. The setting isn’t as different as the other story but it is the only setting it is Medusa's cave. The events are that Perseus sees Medusa's victims then Perseus wanted to kill or destroy Medusa. Finally, the conflict of the story is that Perseus has a thirst to kill, its a problem because he wants to kill innocent people.
Overall, Riordan uses different mythological characters, to create a modern adaptation of the story of Perseus. Riordan does so in a way that a younger audience can understand and even relate to in this day and age. The main point Riordan is trying to get across, is this idea of heroism, and using children’s imaginations to make this happen. However, he doesn’t only use Percy to be portrayed as the hero, he also uses Grover, and also Annabeth, who both help Percy along his quest.
The similarities between Odysseus and Jason are as vast as their differences, yet their main connections show their their main difference. The similarity of the two previously unsung heroic types is exactly what separates them, each man is a different type of the new hero that came about after the brutish and brawny warriors like Achilles and Hector. Each can be seen as a hero or as a perverse designation of the past warriors and heroic ideals. It is their journeys that define them as heros, Jason though he could not have made it alone succeeds in his endeavors and Odysseus although he made it home alone in the end he is the valiant lover and father. The endings show a major difference between the two characters as Odysseus is redeemed in the end for his good qualities, Jason become less of a heroic figure as he discards his ever helpful wife Medea.
The main characters of each work are automatically associated with each other by their names, but they also share similar personalities and characteristics. Odysseus is a wily hero of the Trojan War who uses his deceptive...
The legend of Perseus is told in many different ways, in two particular ways they are similar but yet quite different. The movie Clash of the Titans is primarily a story of Perseus and his dangerous journey to save the princess Andromeda, while the Edith Hamilton’s Mythology is a story of Perseus, his relationship with his mother and journeys to her.
Brains over brawn, who will win this battle?Homer's tale of Odysseus' adventures in “The Odyssey” show that being intelligent and cunning can be far better than having physical strength. Being physically strong certainly has its advantages, but not in all circumstances. Strength in intelligence shows new meaning of strength. Odysseus is amused with himself when he defeats Polyphemus. His great skills with a bow outweigh the others abilities. Knowledge of the placement of his bed win his beloveds heart.
My original thought when comparing Percy Jackson and the Olympians: the Lightning Thief the movie and Classical mythology was that there would be many more references to the myth of Perceus than any other myth throughout the movie in its entirety. That’s where I was wrong. After watching the movie again and researching the different hero myths my opinion has changed. My new thoughts are that the movie is not influenced by the myth of Perceus any more than other hero myths. The movie ties together many different heroes’ stories and mixes them together to make a wonderful story about a young boy. The movie was based on a book series written by Rick Riordan.
Odysseus and Aeneas are very alike in some ways and very different. They are both epic heroes except that one is Greek and the other is a Trojan. Odysseus is from the Greek tale The Oddessy, which was written by the famous Greek poet Homer. His quest is to find his way back home after a long journey. Aeneas is from the roman tale The Aenied, written by Virgil a famous Roman poet. Aeneas’s mission is to find a new home for him and his family. Both these characters had many similarities and differences in their ways of fighting.
