People are becoming more and more overly reliant to technology. They use it everyday in their lives. In the 'future, dystopian world' of the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, people are shown to be highly reliant to technology, which can be compared to the similarly growing reliance to technology of the people in modern America today. Smartphones, televisions, and other gadgets like these has become more and more popular these days. This relates to the novel because the people in the US has become more reliant to these gadgets, which limits their social activities. The internet has become very important to the world, specially at work. Most work nowadays involves sending emails, research and more that requires internet. “When the internet is down, work is over for the day”. They can look up things instantly on their smartphones, which limits researching on books. “Most kids these days don't even know how to use a dictionary because " Google has it all" so they don't see it as a necessary skill.” This illustrates how lazy people have become ‘lazy’. It is indeed much more faster to just look it up on the spot than to struggle finding it in a book, but this shows that people will find it difficult to live without technology because of how they got used to using these as a part of their daily lives. People being engaged in electronic devices can be seen all throughout the novel Bradbury wrote. With the televisions that occupy most of the people’s time, and the mechanical hound that the government is using to control the people.
