Everyone in this world has similarities and differences. This idea is shown in “The Ransom of Red Chief” by O. Henry. In the story two kidnappers, Bill and Sam, take a boy and try to get two-thousand dollars as a ransom from the father, but taking the kid ends up being more than it is worth. Sam is the leader of the operation and is a little more cool and calm, while Bill is a little bit more on the edge. The two kidnappers' similarities are interesting, but their differences are more important. Bill and Sam have similarities. First, they are both kidnappers. For example, they make up a plan to go to a small town where the authorities will not be able to catch them, but they can get the money they want. They are both in it together, and both play a part in the kidnapping team. Sam does all the paperwork and makes the demands, and Bill does all the tough work. They work together to get the job done. Second, they are both scared of the boy. For instance, the kid terrifies them, and they can not harm him so they take the precautions needed. For example, Bill never closes an eye again after Red Chief pins him down and tries to take his scalp with a knife. Sam wakes up early to avoid being broiled by the time the sun comes up.
