Chapter one 1) Our Quester: an ogre named Shrek. Shrek lives on a swamp all by himself which is the way he likes it, or at least he thinks so. 2) A place to go: Shrek has to go find and save the Princess Fiona at her castle. 3) Stated reason to go there: he believes he is going to save the princess because that is what Lord Farquaad says he has to do in order to get his swamp back. Lord Farquaad had put all of the fairytale creatures in all the land in Shrek’s swamp and Shrek wants them to leave. 4) Challenges and trails: One of the biggest trials Shrek faces on the way is the battle he has with Farquad’s men before he leaves for the Princess. He has to fight Farquad’s men to prove he has the ability to get the Princess. Once he is at the castle he has to outsmart the dragon guarding the Princess to take her back safely. Once he is on his way back with the Princess he has to fight a group of forest bandits. 5) The real reason to go: although he did not know it, the real reason Shrek embarked on this quest was because he needed to find true love. Violence is a key component to the development of the theme in the book, The Lord of the Flies. The boys enter the island with a sense of freedom, and even though they are stranded on an island, there is a sense of happiness which is shown through a violent scene. The scene being when the boys kill the pig. Even though there is a sense of joy this scene also represents a turning point in the boys and adds to the theme of the book, being a society with no rules will destroy itself. This theme is brought home by the most violent scene in the book, when the boys crush Piggy with the rock. This ruleless society is destroying itself from the inside and the author uses scenes of violence to show that the boys have turned to savages and are going to end up killing each
