My eighth grade year was extremely successful and overall very impressive, I feel that this can be represented by the song “Show and Tell” by Said the Sky. When listening to this song many feel feelings of happiness and are easily able to forget most things that they commonly think of. While these things may include good memories most tend to focus on bad experiences that they encounter frequently such as stress or worry about their daily life. “Show and Tell” is able to relieve people of these feelings and give them a feeling of happiness, excitement, or even calm. They are able to realize when they are wrong and, most importantly, what is happening around them without a point of view. If one is completely self aware they are able to discard emotions, feelings, and opinions in order to see what is truly happening. By doing this they are able to take off that “lense”, being their point of view, and see things through completely indifferent eyes. This allows them to completely realize their own emotions which they can chose to utilize or not care about. I continually do this in an effort to analyze what I am thinking on both a conscious and subconscious level so I can improve upon actions that I am taking. I was aware that the success of that specific mile on that specific day could have easily been a mistake considering how brief it was and how changeable the elements that affect the mile are. This also relates to most of my work and overall performance of the year however was not always specific to accidental success. Being self aware also means being able to contribute one with their own success when it is true. This allowed me to feel this freedom that I used “Show and Tell” to describe. The lyrics read “Don't you ask what my tattoos mean ‘cause they ain't for you and they ain't for me.”(Said the Sky. “Show and Tell.” California, May 29, 2017), the tattoos in this sentence represent something larger than others and oneself. It takes large amounts of self awareness in order to realize these things. Many are strangely unaware that in the grand scheme of things they are completely unimportant. This level of self awareness is gained from a realization that all eventually reach however some chose to acknowledge it while others do not. These people are living in an illusion that they and other humans are important and affect the future which is very far from the truth. I realized this and was able to benefit from it.
