Should racism and hate propaganda be censored on the internet?

Censorship is the suppression and prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable or a threat to security. It’s a topic of ongoing debate. And it’s not an easy question to answer. The global nature and the reach of the Internet pose difficulties in controlling content that have never come up with other mediums for communicating and disseminating information. Censor is a strong word that sounds too much like our freedoms are being denied. However, the Internet can be censored in such a way that it remains a good source of information and a lively social space while protecting those who are most vulnerable to Internet exploitation.
Decades ago, movies were censored and several racial stereotypes were considered healthy entertainment for young people. The first being the cast of characters in Charles Mack’s Punch and Judy shows which included “The Chinaman”, “The Jew”, and “The Negro.” Racial stereotypes would not only not be inherently humorous but would be offensive to most of today’s audiences.
