Should testing on animals be illegal? Animal testing is where live animal is compelled to go through tests and experiment which will likely cause them pain. Animals such as, mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds are killed or harmed throughout laboratories, medical testing, chemicals and drugs. These animals are being testing on a range of body products (cosmetics, fragrances/ deodorant, oral care, etc), pet food, household appliances and cleaning. Not being able to choose where to sleep at night, when and what to eat, how to live your life. This is how these animals live, as a prisoner. They are used for experiment for products that humans use on a day to day bases. Each year over 100 million animals are testing on and almost all of these animals end up dead after the tests are completed. But there are alternatives for testing products that are efficient and reliable. Non animal testing doesn't take as long and uses a fraction of the money for experiments on animals. These tests will be effective and affordable. Humane research methods included volunteers, patients and computer testing. Between 1976 - 1985 a wide range of drugs such as, Phenacetin, Eferol, Oraflex, Suprol, Selacryn, etc were all tested on animals. These drugs were taken off the market because of serious side effects. If industries changed animal testing to non animal testing we would have higher protection. Testing on animals does not guarantee the product will be safe on humans. There is a physiological difference between humans and animals, the results from animal testing can’t always be accurate. This injustice to animals involves testing products such as medical drugs or makeup, on poor imprisoned animals that don’t have the ability to stand for their own rights as most of us do. Animals used for testing are given products that may result in burning, poisoning, or death. These animals are forced to live in confined spaces where they wait until the next horrible experiment. They are, tortured beyond imagination as they are sometimes even cut open while they are alive (know as vivisection), either with expired analgesics or even without them.
Approximately two to four million animals have been used in safety tests. Safety tests are conducted with a wide range of chemicals and products, including drugs, vaccines, cosmetics, household cleaners, and packing materials. This raises issues such as the ethics and humaneness of deliberately poisoning animals, thus harming them, for the sake of marketing a new cosmetic or household product.
Over 100 Million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned and abused in testing labs every year. Animals are used to test the safety of products, advance scientific research, and develop models to study disease and to develop new medical treatments, all for the sake of mankind. Animals should not be used for scientific research because animal testing is inhumane, other testing methods now exist, and animals are very different from human beings. While animal testing has led to many life-saving cures, animal testing is cruel and inhumane because it involves inflicting pain and harm on the test subject to study its effects and remedies. Testing involves physically restraining, force-feeding, and depriving animals of food and water.
Imagine a pet, or even a younger sibling, was being tested on, abused, and taunted. Many pets are considered apart of the family. What is enough? Who is going to put a stop to this? What extent should someone go to to protect their family, or even stop it all? While people think it is "okay" to kill animals if it betters the life of humans, it is not okay to abuse or kill animals for experimentations, because animals are living creatures, deserve rights, and the testing rarely benefits since animals do not have the same diseases as humans.
Certain countries are considering a ban on animal testing and experimentation. I disagree with this ban on animal testing. While it may seem that animal testing is cruel and unethical, it has helped both humans and animals in many ways. For example, many horrible diseases that have been cured have, at some point used animal testing. This and many other reasons is why there should not be a ban on animal testing.
Imagine not having a choice and being used for experimenting without having any say at all. For everyone, this seems like a horrible nightmare; for animals this nightmare is their reality. It is unethical to sentence animals to life in a lab cage and to intentionally cause them excruciating pain. Industries even cram multiple animals at a time in a single cage where they are all subjected to food and water deprivation, forced feeding, forced inhalation, and long periods of phsycial restraint. Through the process, animals can be burned, poisoned, given diseases such as cancer, blinded, paralyzed and brain damaged. According to Humane Society International, most are even encountered with inflictions of burns and other wounds to examine the healing processes. Also with pain to study its effects caused from these experiments. These animals are rarely offered any form of pain relief, and in some cases, may be left to suffer until they eventually die. The poor, traumatized animals used in experiments are treated like nothing more than disposable lab equipment. Like humans, they can feel pain and fear. Animal Testing is one of the most horrible things you could do to an animal. When an animal is tested you could cause it to become crippled for the rest of its life whether they make it blind or even making it to become paralyzed you could even cause extreme pain or death.
Essentially we are torturing the animals for a negative outcome, both for the human and the animal. The Food and Drug Administration reports that “92 out of every 100 drugs that pass animal tests fail in humans” (“Top Five Reasons”). If the products and drugs that we are testing on the animals are not working then there is no use in harming a harmless animal. Some may disagree and say that animal testing has enabled us to develop many life-saving treatments for both humans and animals. But in reality, there are more cons than pros in animal testing.

Imagine your sweet cat locked in a cage inside a laboratory with other various animals. Millions of animals every year are locked up in labs for testing. Animals are used to test medications, cosmetics, biology lessons, and for medical training. Thousands of mice, rats, primates, cats, dogs, and other animals are used for testing. For example, Scutti (2013) states that 98 of Nobel Prizes awarded for Physiology or Medicine, 75 were directly dependent on research from animals. Even though there are disadvantages and disagreement in using of animal experiment, there is also some evidences show that animal experiment is inevitable for the future progress, and the human beings would not have greater life quality without animal testing.

In addition scientists causing pain, most drugs that pas successfully in animals fail in humans. It is qualified as a bad science. Above all, animals have rights not to be harmed even though the Animal Welfare Act does not provide them even with minimal protection. The law does not find it necessary to use current alternatives to animals, even if they are obtainable.
