Wireless voice poles are kept in front of the shooter, so when they are ready for a target they simply call out “Pull”, and a target is thrown. Posture is very important when shooting. Feet are to be placed a shoulder width apart, with feet almost perpendicular to the top of the square. Assuming the shooter is right handed, the right elbow is kept straight out, even with the shoulder, right hand holding the trigger guard and butt of the gun, and left hand holding the stock. Both eyes must be open while shooting for the best accuracy.

Assault weapons have been labeled as the number one source for mass killings in America. The idea that a weapon can fire a large amount of bullets at a remarkable speed can be used for recreational use was thought of otherwise. This type of weaponry was made for one reason and that is to eliminate as many people as possible and accomplish it in a reasonably fast time. Has the thought ever crossed your mind that you could be gunned down while tabulating this month’s sales figures, attending a working review of a future briefing or simply having coffee with a co-worker while you talk about the upcoming weekends plans? Perhaps it should, it crossed my mind several times after listening on the phone to the panic, screams and faint sound of gunfire occurred at the Washington Navy Yard. Despite my training and years of experience it seems that retirement has dulled my sight somewhat, I put those lenses back on a took a hard look at the building I work in between 40-50 hours a week a now see that it is a potential slaughterhouse. A design accentuated by limited exits within sight of one another, closed off office spaces and limited internal locks would provide an advantages to an active shooter with even limited skill.

Violence related to guns is a prominent issue in America. Guns are a means to an end; meaning guns have played a strong role in suicides, murders, and injuries. In the past decade there has been an average of 400-500 thousand incidents of firearms per year (Gun Violence). The number of injured people from firearm incidents in the United States per year for the past decade is 400-600 thousand people (Gun Violence). These statistics are absolutely shocking to anyone. The amount of violence and crime that comes from guns is enormous. It is imperative that proper gun control is put into place by means of background checks and proper training. The most startling examples of these risks usually involve children. Children are very curious and will stop at nothing to discover new ideas. When they play, it is normal for them to move about and find bits and pieces around the house. This innocent, normal behavior becomes dangerous when children start finding guns hidden or lying around. A typical story was told by the Physicians for Social Responsibility, an organization working together for nuclear disarmament, (PSR) when “three-year-old Billy Higgins sat in the corner of his parent’s bedroom, trembling and confused, a gun having just gone off in his hand. His 2 year old sister, Anne Marie, lay motionless on her back, a small hole in her chest. While playing with his sister, Billy had found his father’s loaded handgun in a bedroom drawer. The father, John Higgins, never dreamed his small children were capable of finding or using his gun. He was wrong. And his daughter died”. (“Billy Higgins”) Obviously, John Higgins thought that he had his gun only accessible to himself, and even if his kids found it, they would not be able to shoot it. However, the National Safe Kids Campaign website shows that “Children as young as age 3 are strong enough to pull the trigger of many of the handguns available in the United States”.
Gun safety is very important in the matters of teaching people that firearms are not a toy. One should always treat the gun like it is loaded. Too many people choose to play around with guns by swinging them around, tossing them to people, or aiming the gun at other people and pretending to shoot them. These are signs that people are much too immature and should not be handling a firearm.
