The place of women in popular culture and changes from past to present.
Why are women sexualized in popular culture?

Introduction
The subject of women in pop culture is very important. Especially in this time period, with the Weinstein’s affair and the Me Too movement, the place of women in popular culture has been questioned. In chapter four of the book Pop Culture Freaks, Kidd (2014) writes “It is difficult to avoid recognizing that women are often placed in vulnerable poses in which they are sexualized and objectified”, which is why my research question is: Why women are often sexualized in popular culture? For centuries, the dominant gender was male, so this impacts the vision of women we all have today. This also impacts the culture which has made this specific image of the woman, and the society we are living in portrayed to us this image from the moment we are born. All of this makes us wonder the place of women in popular culture and what changed. So, I made up an online survey for people to take and have an insight of what people are thinking about my research. In this paper, we will see the woman and the popular culture.

With the survey and all the readings, I found during the research process, I came to a few conclusions. First, the fact that women are still being sexualized in pop culture nowadays come from the fact that it became part of our society that the body of a woman should look a specific way to be attractive and be advertised. This led me to the impression that all women should look like the one you see in advertisement and movies, but it is not the case and every woman should feel good about themselves no matter how they look.
