The rite of passage that is most significant to me would be, The Setting Sun and Rolling World passage. The Setting Sun and Rolling World was an argumentative narrative between, Old Musoni and Nahmo. They live where farming is bad, the place is dry and dusty, not suited for farming. Old Musoni is a farmer and Nahmo's caretaker. The land has not rained, so the household is in a state of lost. His son Nahmo wants to leave and find a better living. Old Musoni objects his son’s wish to leave. They argue back and forward with Old Musoni only wishing for the safety of Nahmo. Old Musoni is unable to change Nahmo’s desire. So Nahmo leaves in search of a better living and lifestyle. Reason one is that, I was born in the U.S with asian parents. So I was a half-asian. I naturally did not learn english as my first language. So when I started school I struggled to fit in and understand people. A quote to represent my reason would the setting description,”sun blasted land”,”wishing for rain and relief”,”stoney earth”,”dusty eyes”. Since Old Musoni was a farmer and could not produce products for his family and give them shelter & protection. …show more content…

But, I am now fluent in my second language(english) rather than my first language. So I could not understand or learn my first language correctly. My parents also encouraged me to become a doctor so I don’t have worry about money. And I should live a healthy life that my parents’ wish for me. The quote to represent my reason would be, “He saw nothing but disaster and death for his son out there in the world.”. I chose this because Nahmo no longer want to stay and live under Old Musoni’s wish. He wants to leave because he believe it's best for him to not live the same life and should change for the greater
