1. What did you learn about experimental design (or research methods in general) from talking with classmates? -> What I learned about experimental design from talking to my classmates was that experiments help show the cause of the experiment. Another thing I learned about experimental design from my classmates is that we are able to change one or more variables in order to observe the change of others variables.
2. What did you learn from previous worksheets and papers and feedback and perhaps Resource Center consultations that you incorporated into paper3? Say both what you learned AND what you learned

About variables and/or operationalizing? -> I learned from Joyce’s PowerPoint and feedback was variables and/or operationalizing. I learned that Operationalizing is the process of defining variables into measurable factors and that Variables is an item that can be controlled or changed. I learned from it was that for surveys, it is very important to state your variables and how they are being measured. How I learned from it was through the class PowerPoints and reading that were assigned in class. With the lesson plans, and the book, it helped me a lot when writing my proposal 3.Being able to figure out what are the variables I will be using and how to operationalize throughout the paper. For future research paper, I will be able to know the difference between variables, and operationalize, and how they work together.
d. About the difference between causal relationships between variables and the other kinds of relationships between variables that were dealt with in earlier papers? -> In the beginning of the semester, this component was not the easiest for me, because I only knew the basic meaning of the relationship of correlation. I learned that there is a difference between a relationship and a correctional within an experiment... I learn from Behavioral science class, the PowerPoints, Joyce and the

Optional: About Moodle or MS Word or other computer things? -> What I learned about another computer thing was a website called Trello. Trello is a tool that helps a student organized a project into small sections. I learned from it is better to break apart a project into small sections and being able to focus on each and every section and requirement the instructors has for the project. How I learned it was from Joyce. She introduces the class to Trello, and it helped with being able to know she was looking for in each section of the paper. It also helped us with group assignments, for example when we did the random assignment, and voting which group had the best video for explaining random assignments. Trello helps students break down their papers, and making sure that the student is following the criteria of the assessment. For assessment 3, I did not use Trello, but for assessment one, we did use Trello, and it was helpful for that assessment.
3. In what ways have you pushed yourself to learn this semester? ->
● Throughout the semester, I pushed myself by seeing my tutor every Tuesday and sometimes Thursday mornings, for additional help on my writing skills and proofreads. I also took my time with my assessments, quizzes, and worksheet, and making sure I would ask my peers and/ or my instructor any questions. I also did not miss a day of class, because for me it is important to come to class, because every
Experimental research is the one type of research that allows psychologists to make causal statements. It is where the researcher changes one or more variables that may have an effect on some other variables (King, 2016). The hypothesis is a specific expectation about what is going to happen in the experiment (King, 2016). In the research, the hypothesis was that women would perceive fat talk to be more socially acceptable than men (Katrevich et al., 2014). The other elements of experimental method are dependent and independent variables. The independent variable (IV) is the cause of the results, and it is changed by the experimenter to find the effects, but the dependent vari...
According to our book “anecdotes are first- or secondhand reports of personal experiences. They can include specific information about measures of learning, such as the number of errors made, but they are more often less specific” (Chance, 2014). And case study “examines a particular individual in considerable detail” (Chance, 2014). Last is experimental study “ is a study in which a researcher manipulates one or more variables (literally, things that vary) and measures the effects of this manipulation on one or more other variables” (Chance, 2014). The pros of experiment study is “control over variables, easy determination of cause and effect relationship, better results” (2014, Advantage and Disadvantage of Experimental Research). And the cons of experiment study is “failure to do experiement, creates artificial situations and subject to human error. (2014, Advantage and Disadvantage of Experimental Research). And the kind of experiment that statistical analysis is least likely to be necessary is anecdotes because they are personal experience and personal experience can be made up or not
... objective in nature, thus producing accurate data. Nevertheless, Allington and McGill-Frazon established that “reduction of a complex phenomenon to a few quantifiable variables can lead to over simplification of the phenomenon” (p.445). In other words, for observations to be complete, a combination of qualitative and quantitative data is necessitated in order to explain the totality of the phenomenon. An advantage of pre-test and post-tests designs is that it can be conducted with a single group or a control group. In the projected research topic, a pre-test and post-test was used with a group to maximize the internal validity. Neverthess, in the projected research topic, the experimental design is used to illustrate a cause and effect between two variables. The disadvantage is that external elements pose a threat to accuracy (Leedy & Ormrod, 2010, p.230).
Nursing involves the ability to gather data from any given situation and process it in a manner that may benefit the patient, potentially resulting in positive outcomes for all involved. To provide effective culturally competent care, a nurse must be able to approach any given situation with an open mind, willing to set aside personal bias and prejudice. Knowing where one stands is the first step in understanding where one may improve.
To ensure good quality and coverage of health services, facilities can conduct self-assessment by analyzing and comparing the actual activities against plans made and targets. The analysis of quality of health services refers to quality of the best possibility treatment patients/clients receive. This requires the reference to the protocol and guidelines for standardized treatment. For example, the proportion of children under one get the correct vaccines at the right intervals. The analysis of coverage suggests the number of patients/clients receive a particular services compared to those who should have received it. For example, how many children under 1 year old are immunized?
... the value of organization and planning. The structure provided by the instructor truly helped me break down very large projects into smaller, more approachable assignments. For example, for each essay due, there were smaller deadlines that needed to be met. As I kept up with those smaller assignments, the actual large due date was not intimidating and I was able to handle the stress better. I will definitely use this approach in my future academic writing assignments.
This paper intends to provide a basic understanding of my individual personality and how it plays a role in my organization in the U.S. Navy. It covers the results from a self-assessment tool that uses a series of questions to identify specific personality strengths and weaknesses. It is divided into three steps. The first one, focuses on the most important personality trait results. The second, how these results play a role in my organization. And the third, how God’s Holy Spirit has worked in my life to change weaknesses into strengths. Needs work
... learn about. I also got to use first person so it was more personal. I learned more about how to look for valid websites so, I was going through the websites and I actually took my time to look through them and see if I could benefit from any of the information. Overall I learned a lot doing this project not only about my subject but about how to write a paper.
Unit 1 taught me to focus on each step in the writing process. Approaching the task
I found the results of my self-assessments to be a very insightful and accurate description of myself. The results of the learning styles test and the Keirsey Temperament Sorter II are very valuable for examining my personality traits and learning style and making improvements as needed.
A laboratory experiment is a research method that can be defined as an experiment that is conducted in a controlled environment. This enables the researcher to control factors that may or may not affect the results of the experiment in an uncontrolled environment. This type of research method is common due to the allowance of alterations to particular sections of their experiment in order to determine what and how their aim is either correct or incorrect. From this they can determine the cause and effect. Cause and effect is the acknowledgment of a relationship between events, or in this case, between results.
When I took the self-assessment test I got one personality type as my highest of all six personality types . The personality type that I scored the highest was social, and it matches perfect with the kind of work I envision doing it in my future. I was not surprised when I got the highest in social because I think this is how friends and loved one’s see myself when I am around them. For instance, they describe as me as a person who value helping others even if I have to go out my way to provide others with what they need. Friends, and close ones always says that I am a caring person who listen and take people’s problems very seriously. Something else that they about myself is that I am good at giving people advice or direct them to the right path. Moreover, my coworkers and friends always referred to me as a someone who is always willing to take new challenges and that I am good at sense when something's not right for them. All of these traits that people say I have are similar to the qualities and skills that social workers in general need in order for them
During my initial self-evaluation and assessment of me as a perspective counselor, self- awareness was an essential aspect of becoming an effective counselor. I am aware of certain things that can prevent me from becoming a competent counselor such as being unaware of my strengths and weaknesses. As a current community support worker, I have already had the opportunity to work with individuals who require different levels of support. Providing assistance to the specific population has given me the chance to utilize my communication skills. My work experience has also allowed me to be more self-aware, and open minded. After taking the techniques of counseling class I am more than confident that I have grown professionally since the beginning
Professor Stuart used a lot of discussions in the class. Everyone in class offered their opinion on all the material we encountered during the course. The class discussions contributed to helping me learn because it provided me with extra information and different viewpoints of how others interpreted the material. Also, we ended up going to the library and taking a tour. This experience added to my learning in this course because it taught me how to find the proper materials in the library and how to accurately benefit from the sources available in the library. Another contributing factor was the individual conferences scheduled by the professor. The conference contributed because the teacher discussed the current grade I had in that class and helped me understand what I needed to do to improve my academic writing along with my grade. The Prezi PowerPoints encouraging my learning by providing me with accurate information, further helping me understand the underlying material. Peer review also played a role in my learning because it allowed us to get outside ideas or criticism for our paper, allowing us to fix the mistakes, before turning it in. In addition to all these contributing factors, the hupomnemata really benefited me the most. The hupomnemata is a journal used for writing down notes on the material and some things the professor said in
Well I guess I’ll start off this paper by being outright honest. I have never done this type of self-assessment exercise. So I’ll start this paper off with what exactly this type of self-assessment is. These types of self-assessments are meant to help show the individual (me) where my strengths lie and also where my weaknesses are as well so that I may try and lean on my strengths while improving on my own shortcomings. Essentially the Johari Window four regions model that we learned about is a great tool for this assessment. The first region is also known as the open area, which essentially means that this is what is known by the person about him/herself and is also know by others. The second region is known as the blind area in which this is information unknown by the individual but is known by others. Which could be behaviors that an individual does but does not realize that they are doing them. The third window is known as the hidden area. This area is essentially information that only you know about yourself and others do not. The fourth area is known as the unknown area. It’s known as that because this is information that you and others do not know about you. It’s when you take a look at these four areas and see your strengths and/or weaknesses are at and if you allow yourself to become open to feedback you then can improve on your own shortcomings and become a better leader.
