Both Sebastian Junger and Jacqueline Adams along with Ken Kostel write about natural disasters and their causes and effects. Although both texts have the same topic they use different strategies to present the topic. In “Super Disasters of the 21st Century” Jacqueline Adams along with Ken Kostel use visual techniques and factual evidence. On page 149, the authors provide a map feature that presents where the earthquake affected the area. This helps the reader visualize what the author is describing. Adams states “Katrina pounded the Gulf Coast region with 225 kmp wings”(Adams 18). This states exactly what was happening by using data.
