Recommended: Classical music concert review essay

Concert: Cambridge Public School Spring Concert The concert that I attended was Cambridge Public School’s K-6th grade spring concert. It took place on April 18, 2016 in Cambridge, NE. The performance from start to finish was about one hour long. There were five performances in the hour long period. The first two were performances with instruments while the last three were choir performances. The two performances with instruments were titled “A Freaky Fantasy” and “Ayre And Dance”. The three choir performances were titled “Count on me”, “Laudate Dominum”, and “Firefly”. There were about twenty performers in both the band and choir sections of this concert. The students instruments and voices were very crisp. From what I could tell, they hit every note in both the band and choir performance, especially the choir part. The mood ranged from song to song. In the band side, “A Freaky Fantasy” was very fast paced and had a very light mood. While “Ayre And Dance” was a slower, more dramatic and quiet song. I was very impressed how the performers could completely change their instruments and energy level to accompany each song. The entire band was rhythmically together throughout the whole performance. I also noticed that there were many changes in the dynamics of these two pieces. Even though the first song was a fast paced song, it didn't start out like that. So I was very impressed with the performers ability to make these musical changes. The choir part of this concert had to be my favorite. The three songs were all so different. “Count On Me” was a beautifully performed piece. The lyrics and beat were really meaningful to me in this song. In “Laudate Dominum” and “Firefly”, the pitch varied a great amount. I also think that the harmony and melody were very well balanced in all three of theses songs, especially “Count On Me”. Overall, I was incredibly impressed with the performance. The energy level was perfect for every song or piece, and the enthusiasm from the performers was outstanding.     For my first concert report, I have decided to attend the Applied Music Student Recital. The musical performance was at Palomar College on February 27, 2015 from 1:00P.M.--2:00P.M. at the performance lab room D-10. The type of music that was presented at the concert was a brass ensemble, chamber music, classical, contemporary, jazz, opera, percussion, and many vocal arrangements. There was a total of eight musical Palomar College student performers who are majoring in music theory. I am only going to focus on a few of the musical pieces that I enjoyed most. The majority of the performers were dressed in formal attire. As the men were dressed in a dress shirt, a tie or bow tie of their choice, black slacks, and dress shoes. As for the women, they wore dresses, skirts and dress shoes. Also there was a pianist, accompanist who is a Palomar College music teacher named Ruth Weber. The performance was in a music concert hall with roughly fifty audience members.

    Every performance was presented with charm. The flashing, changing colors seem to go along with the performances. The director was humorous. The performers outfits were on point too. I liked the color coding of the vocalists, Jeremy, Jordan, and Rowan. Also, Julie wore a pretty suede dress and had a great voice. It was nice to see her come out for the 2nd time to sing. When Spencer kept playing his saxophone in some of the performances, it was just amazing. Some of my favorite performances were Sittin on the Dock of the Bay, Ain’t too Proud to Beg, In a Sentimental Mood, and more. It really made me feel like I was in New Orleans all over again. I absolutely love Otis Redding and The Temptations music, so I wasn’t new to these songs they played. I was sitting in the back (R-125) where I felt comfortable to bob my head to the music. If I ever come back to see another concert, I will make sure to get a seat in the back again. I adore Jordan that did sung the Temptations song. I thought it was exciting to see his enthusiasm while on stage keeping us engaged, but everyone did great in their own way. The song by Duke Ellington made me feel melancholy, the piece was soft. The last piece was Piano Quintet in E-flat major, Opus 44. What I discovered about my own musical understanding by attending this concert is the following thing. I know how to appreciate and to enjoy music that is a little bit familiar, but my understanding stops when a very new type of music is performed. I made a conclusion from this experience. My conclusion is that learning about music will increase the pleasure of listening to music, but that musical learning is not, perhaps, as easy as learning subjects like Math or History.

    For my concert write up, I attended the UCR Chamber Singers Valentine's concert on February 9th at the Culver Center of the Arts in downtown Riverside. It was a mix of ensemble pieces, solos, duos, and trios. The setting for the performance was a beautifully lit spot in the center surrounded by art.
